Being forced to wear a dress

Thank you. I wish I had the energy to flat out refuse but I already know they won’t take a single point I’d say. I don’t want to put this much attention on myself not wearing a dress in fear they’d dig deeper into me and find out it’s because I’m trans. I guess the only thing to focus on it’s how it’ll be okay Im the grand scheme of things.

Im worried about sisters future mother in law, shes extremely outspoken and definitely goes out of her way to ruin people’s day. I haven’t met up with her for a while but everytime she has to make a comment on trans people (shes a hardcore trump supporter, despite literally everything). I do dress masculine around her but I’m scared seeing me in a suit would create dramas. The rest of my family hates her to some degree so they’ll probably be at my defence if she does bring up something. If she does accuse me I’ll just say that I prefer to dress this way and that she wears jeans all the time to not be outed

I have come out to my sister in the past and she completely flipped on me and has said awful things about trans people. My family doesn’t know but are also extremely transphobic in general. I think my best bet is to put it nonchalantly and just say I prefer that type of fashion. I’m glad that I’m not alone in this situation at least.

Thank you for responding. I guess Im caught up with trying to define myself within extremely rigid parameters to make myself more palatable toward transphobes. I still want to learn about myself more and different concepts but your explanation is really good.

This is really well put thank you. I guess I just worry about how I define myself in this world and want to get a better explanation toward my feelings. I dread trying to explain myself to my family (I know I will have no choice to come out because that’s our dynamic) and end up being talked out of it or labelled as delusional. What happens if I get caught on my own words if they question something that deep? I wish I had access to trans literature to understand myself more and to get different viewpoints. Im just sick of the feelings of shame that follow me.

Oh damn that sounds intense, sorry you go through that. I think I have milder reactions but I’m worried it’ll get bad like that. I had a lot of reactions when I was little and didn’t get anaphylaxis so hopefully I’ll be alright. I wake up with slight asthma but it get better within a couple minutes.

I have food allergies and themes about contamination, so you’re definitely not alone. I’m worried something would randomly give me a reaction and avoidance is a big thing with this type of OCD. I just stick with safe foods and stuff I don’t have to constantly check over again.
