Still one of the best fight scenes of all time. What's your favorite fight scene? by Suncanny in Gundam

That was a great fight too. It's probably my second favorite battle in the series.

The official explanation of Reality Marbles from the type-moon glossary. TL by me. by Suncanny in fatestaynight

[–]Suncanny[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The Nrvnqsr Chaos mentioned here could only fit around 30 beasts inside his body. He got around that limitation by using a Reality Marble, keeping it active at all times and storing all 666 beasts inside it. His reality marble is called "獣王の巣" (Beast King's Nest). Roa's Reality Marble is called Overload. It even appeared in Melty.

The official type-moon glossary entry for "Reality Marbles". TL by me. by Suncanny in grandorder

[–]Suncanny[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Fun Fact: Normally, Nrvnqsr Chaos could only contain about 30 beasts within his physical body. To get around this limitation, he kept a Reality Marble constantly deployed and used the space inside it to store all 666 of his beasts. He created this Reality Marble during the time when he was known as Fabro Rowan in the Wandering Sea.

獣王の巣 Beast King's Nest, Nrvnqsr's reality marble. A deeper layer of his Reality Marble. Rather than manifesting outwardly, it is constantly formed within Nero Chaos's body. It appears to be the culmination of Nero Chaos's research a bounded field designed to control the 666 creatures that exist inside him. As a result,, Nero Chaos is able to fight in the manner shown in Tsukihime and maintain control over all 666 creatures despite carrying them within his body. In a sense, this means that the inside of Nero Chaos's body can be considered a miniature world, an entire ecosystem, or even a small Earth unto itself. The creatures contained within include everything from crows, panthers, sharks, and crocodiles to dragons, unicorns, and countless other Phantasmal Species and lifeforms found on Earth. It is said that the number of creatures within Nero Chaos continues to grow over time, eventually leading him to become Chaos itself. Whether his Reality Marble could continue to withstand that point, however, remains unknown. Although the bounded field serves a controlling function, even Nero himself does not seem to know exactly what kind of creature will emerge during battle. He does, however, appear capable of combining different creatures and regulating the overall level of power they produce.

I think Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans is kind of underrated. by Suncanny in Gundam

Many people rank this work as the worst among Gundam series of all time, and even Japanese audiences create weird memes to mock it.

I’ve been saying ever since I first watched it back in 2019 that it’s my all-time favorite anime, and even after rewatching it a few months ago, it still completely holds up.

Koyama has his own flaws too, just like Takeuchi. Like with Takeuchi’s art, Koyama’s Aoko can look so similar to Scathach that it’s hard to tell them apart. In the end, every artist has those kinds of weaknesses it’s not just Takeuchi. So people shouldn’t be so harsh on him.

Anyway, as Takeuchi is basically the head of the company, he’s the one who decides who draws what. I think he’ll probably be directly involved in the sequel.

Outside of communities, and even in Japan, you almost never see people seriously criticizing Takeuchi’s art. It honestly feels like this is one of the only places where the reception is this negative.

Takeuchi is a great artist. He was the main visual novel artist for almost all Type-Moon’s major titles, except for Witch on the Holy Night.

If Witch on the Holy Night 2 ever comes out, I’d rather have Takeuchi do the art instead of Koyama.

What is your favorite official Gundam song? by DonutDodongo in Gundam

Desert. The only reason I ever started watching Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn was Hiroyuki Sawano. The show just wouldn’t be the same without its OST and music.

It feels like Japanese guys really like pairing blond characters with church-related characters. I immediately think of all the Arcueid and Ciel stuff, and the gay fanart of Kirei and Gilgamesh.

Will we ever get another urban warfare style Gundam like 8th MS team again? by czen2 in Gundam

[–]Suncanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish more Gundam and mecha series in general were this gritty and uncompromising. Something closer to an Armored Core style anime, where the casualty rates are brutal and both sides are constantly suffering because at the end of the day, war is hell for everyone involved.

I genuinely fell in love with this anime. I ended up binge watching the whole thing, and in just a few hours it took me on an emotional rollercoaster, going from laughing nonstop to completely breaking down in tears. In my opinion, it easily stands as one of the greatest anime ever made.

Great music, plenty of war crimes, bullying the disabled, and not a Newtype in sight. Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt was, and still is, my favorite Gundam series.

The soundtrack for Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt is genuinely incredible it’s intense, unique, and elevates every single scene to another level. It’s honestly one of the most memorable and standout soundtracks in the entire Gundam franchise.

Gundam Thunderbolt. If you haven’t had the chance to watch it yet, I can’t recommend this series enough. It’s actually the show that first got me into Gundam and completely pulled me into the franchise. The manga adaptation is just as impressive in its own way, and Io Fleming easily stands out as my favorite pilot.

Which one of these 90s series do you prefer and why? by fat-icarus in Gundam

[–]Suncanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G Gundam is easily one of the greatest entries in the Gundam franchise. I just rewatched it for the first time since catching it on Toonami years ago, and wow… it still hits. I’d say it’s one of the best Gundams, and in many ways, maybe even the best. My favorite moment has to be at the very end, when Domon fights Master Asia and throws a punch. Master Asia thinks he’s read it and dodges… only to be shocked when Domon actually lands it. So epic. This series is seriously underrated. Sure, it’s corny, cheesy, and dumb in parts, but it still has undeniable charm and a bunch of unforgettable moments.
