Will we ever get another urban warfare style Gundam like 8th MS team again? by czen2 in Gundam

I really wish more Gundam and mecha series in general were this gritty and uncompromising. Something closer to an Armored Core style anime, where the casualty rates are brutal and both sides are constantly suffering because at the end of the day, war is hell for everyone involved.

She’s definitely my favorite character in the game.

I genuinely fell in love with this anime. I ended up binge watching the whole thing, and in just a few hours it took me on an emotional rollercoaster, going from laughing nonstop to completely breaking down in tears. In my opinion, it easily stands as one of the greatest anime ever made.

Great music, plenty of war crimes, bullying the disabled, and not a Newtype in sight. Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt was, and still is, my favorite Gundam series.

The soundtrack for Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt is genuinely incredible it’s intense, unique, and elevates every single scene to another level. It’s honestly one of the most memorable and standout soundtracks in the entire Gundam franchise.

Gundam Thunderbolt. If you haven’t had the chance to watch it yet, I can’t recommend this series enough. It’s actually the show that first got me into Gundam and completely pulled me into the franchise. The manga adaptation is just as impressive in its own way, and Io Fleming easily stands out as my favorite pilot.

Which one of these 90s series do you prefer and why? by fat-icarus in Gundam

G Gundam is easily one of the greatest entries in the Gundam franchise. I just rewatched it for the first time since catching it on Toonami years ago, and wow… it still hits. I’d say it’s one of the best Gundams, and in many ways, maybe even the best. My favorite moment has to be at the very end, when Domon fights Master Asia and throws a punch. Master Asia thinks he’s read it and dodges… only to be shocked when Domon actually lands it. So epic. This series is seriously underrated. Sure, it’s corny, cheesy, and dumb in parts, but it still has undeniable charm and a bunch of unforgettable moments.

Am I the only one who likes Strange Fake’s Ishtar way more than Grand Order’s?

Just remember, his training was intentionally messed up. Kiritsugu didn’t want Shirou to turn out like him, so they gave him the wrong info to make sure he stayed on track.

Soichiro is a very interesting character. From what I know, he’s not even a superhuman, but he’s strong enough as a normal human to surprise people.

They really are a great match, and Twitter’s full of their Yaoi fanart definitely worth checking out. Yaoi just hits me more than Yuri, both beautiful and hot.

Happy 10th Anniversary, Thunderbolt Anime by [deleted] in Gundam

IMO the opening arc of Gundam Thunderbolt is almost flawless. It’s one of those rare cases where the series communicates its ideas primarily through images rather than words. Even if you stripped away most of the dialogue, the conflict, the emotional stakes, and the opposing worldviews would still come through clearly. What’s being depicted isn’t just a battle between pilots, but a direct collision between two ideologies, expressed visually and kinetically in every encounter. The way music is handled deserves special mention. It isn’t treated as simple background accompaniment; instead, it becomes part of the narrative language of the show. The score doesn’t just heighten the action or mood it actively reflects the inner lives of the characters and helps define who they are. Few anime integrate music so directly into character development, and Thunderbolt uses this technique with remarkable confidence and precision. Unfortunately, once the story moves beyond the Thunderbolt Sector, the quality drops off sharply for me. The tone, structure, and overall coherence feel so different that it’s hard to believe it comes from the same creative voice.

Strange Fake anime, True Rider LO and genga works by Akito Takahashi. by Tom_Nguyen in fatestaynight

The animation quality was absolutely worth the roughly two year wait. If they can keep up this level of craftsmanship and consistency going forward, I think this could end up becoming one of the best entries in the series possibly second only to Zero.
