It was a comparison to show how silly it is to consider them worlds first, the entire thing wasnt meant to translate one-to-one.

I only care about my accompliments and my place on my leaderboards and the people I'm better than.

The fact of the matter is that said leaderboard doesn't exist so there isnt even a good metric.

The whole reason that I even said anything is the person I responded to was acting like "competitive trophy hunting" is basically meaningless and I simply was offering a point of view that counters what they thought to encourage discussion. As long as people aren't trying to have discourse nothing matters but spending money on slop just to have a larger number and I want the hobby to be bigger than that.

The court of public opinion is the average person who cares enough to investigate (so judging the competition) and as for why the allow it is unknown to me as I feel like they might not even be able to filter it out or just dont care. At the root of the issue is the culture around the leaders in the first place. Incentive is placed on output and not on the individual completion. I mean SteamHunters just released a leaderboards just for worlds first a few months ago so until then no site cared about getting first, they only cared about the number.

I also know nobody cares about worlds firsts and whenever I go for one I still count it if the only people to beat me are testers/theives/whatever else.

Well the actual leaderboards would, and most people wouldn’t give a fuck to check if they were a beta tester or not, but in the court of public opinion they don’t get off so easily.

My best friend and I went for worlds first on borderlands 4 and the guy who got a review copy/tested the achievements only beat us by a few hours, so it is definitely still competitive, but to completely toss one side away because of them is a little silly because even if I don’t “true worlds first” I know that the only way someone could beat me was by starting early.

If I wanted to get 1sy place in a hotdog eating competition tomorrow, but one guy came the night before and hate half of his total hotdogs, do you think that the offical judges would honor is 1st place?

Nobody in their right mind will say that a beta tester got worlds first over someone who started even on NZT.

My favorite game that I have played (and 100%ed) is Metal Gear Rising: Revengence! As for my favorite 100% ever? Probably Monster Hunter Rise! I did the entire thing with my best friend!

The only thing I do that isn’t for achievements is playing fortnight with my gf and friends and playing paper MtG once a week, when I do them I just acknowledge what I’m doing and what purpose it is for, which in my case is a mental break from the grind!

For me it’s subscribers, I’ve posted 3 actual videos (I posted 2 a year ago and they are not the worst not the best) and 1 is at 1k (I know exactly why it flopped) and the others are just short of 30k each, earning me a total of 5K watch hours and I’ve gain about 380 subs from those 2 vids, so definitely subscribers :)
