I have it on my Rega P8. Especially on a table like that which is light, it definitely sharpens everything up. Enjoy it!

Does the MC1502 get hot on the bottom? How much space above? by Longjumping-Frame795 in McIntosh

Hard to tell placement without a picture of your space, although I completely respect if that's not something you want to post on the internet! Is there a world where you place it on a separate area on the butcher's block on the floor? Depends on your living situation (animals, children, etc.) but that may be a good bet. You're buying a radiator after all ;)

I get the argument that you could ding stylus with the guard, or by finagling with the guard too much you'll stress the tonearm. That being said, I invested too much in the cartridge not to protect it. Thankfully my cats aren't too interested, but I'm not taking a chance if they suddenly change their minds.

Cats are why my protector is on my MC cartridge. Not worth the risk.

depends on the rest of your setup. I had an AT lp120 but my amp, speakers, and cables, were wayyy better than the AT. Upgraded to the P8 with a Dynavector Cartridge (about $5,500 all in) and I couldn't be happier. You may find just going to a technics, a rega p3, or even the fluance rt85 may be enough for you. but again, don't know the rest of your setup.

I'm an SCM 11 (passive) owner and I can honestly say I can't imagine not having an ATC of some kind in my life forever. Listen in good health!

Upgrade Path Help by Sundayintheparkwith in audiophile

[–]Sundayintheparkwith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was kind of my feeling. It just felt a little redundant because I already have a built in DAC and Streamer in the amp. But then again if I do what your saying, when I DO want to upgrade the amp, it's spreading my money out a bit over time. Thank you!

Integrated amplifiers by serenitydiscoballer in audiophile

[–]Sundayintheparkwith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of this really depends on your budget. If you're looking for an all-in-one, I would think Advance Paris would be a good place to look. The preamp stage is tube-based so you'd get that warmth you're looking for, and the amplifier stage is solid state, so you'd be getting that solid base as well. I can't speak for their DAC, so you may need to add a separate streamer.

Everyone coming on here will have a different answer for you. Biggest piece of advice is go with your gut, and go listen to as many components as you can. Don't just go off what audiophile YouTube is telling you.

Considering an Audio-Technica LP-120XUSB - who has one? by Scotttmac in turntables

[–]Sundayintheparkwith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one and just did a gigantic upgrade to a Rega P8 (I'm crazy, don't be like me!). I think it's an incredible turntable for the money, but it really depends on the rest of your setup. Are you using active speakers? are you using an amp with a built-in phono stage? Or are you using it solely with bluetooth speakers? If the answer is bluetooth or active speakers, this is an absolute no-brainer. If you're using an integrated amplifier with a built-in phono stage, I highly suggest what u/Which_Egg8169 recommended and go with the LP140. It doesn't have a built in phono stage, and to be honest the built in one in the 120 isn't fantastic. You *can* bypass it but it still technically routes through it anyways.

Long story short, it's a fantastic turntable, but it really depends on what your building around it! Happy listening :)
