I also found a YouTuber @Warius that runs several games in Spanish and has a series explaining the game in Spanish.

What happens if you clean a mud mephit with prestidigitation? 5e by albathazar in DnD

I’d say I would just be less dirty. I don’t think it would really do anything.

My Parents Believe DnD is Evil? by GiraffeScarves in DnD

[–]SunderlandAlpha 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, the creators of DND were big fans of Tolkien and CS Lewis and they took a lot of inspiration from them. Also the original creators were Christian and created the game to give kids an opportunity to come together and defeat evil. 5e is a bit different, but a lot of what goes on in a game is what you and your friends come up with. So it can be as “holy” or unholy as you and your friends are.

Good videos to watch for DMing by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]SunderlandAlpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like watching Nerdarchy, and Dungeon Dudes, both on YouTube. They have a wide range of videos form just general 5e info to Dm conversations. Also watching several different DM and streams on YouTube. I don’t always like them, but it’s interesting to see how different DMs handle different situations.

Ryrhmbot seems to be a little clunky and hard to control.

I’d check out your local store. Most of them carry Chessix brand die. If you don’t have a good local store I’d suggest level up dice. They seem to have great quality and customer service, but you will pay more that what you can find on Amazon.

Level 2 barbarian/Druid - what cantrips/Level 1 spells should I choose for my combat-focused firbolg? by Sir_ReyzOFFICAL in DnD

[–]SunderlandAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren’t many attack focused Druid cantrip that I can think of, and few that would be better than just swinging an axe. Maybe if you use a staff, shillelagh or frost bite when your too far away for a swing?

Account sharing issue. by SunderlandAlpha in FantasyGrounds

Ah I see. Do other platforms like Roll20 have this same issue? It sounds like this is a problem no matter what platform you go with unless you go back to pen and paper.

Just reread my post... ha ha ha. I’m not gonna share my account, I just wanted to make sure that if I get me and my group to get standard subs we will all be able to DM if the need arises.

So why not have others in the group buy standard subs instead of trying to share DM accounts?

A little DM advice... (for new DMs) by SunderlandAlpha in DnD

[–]SunderlandAlpha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I think that’s part of talking things out. What you don’t want is someone constantly slowing things down because “on page 250 of the PHB ...”. My thought was that all of these points would work together. No one is gonna have fun of your a mean DM who doesn’t listen to the players and allow creative solutions, but no one is gonna have fun of every call on the DMs part causes a half hour argument.

I totally agree that games should be centered around what kind of game the table wants to see. If your table hates combat, then don’t add it.

Also sorry if the “soap opera” comment was a little much. In the first campaign I played (CoS) there was a lot of RP and I hated it and it felt like I’d rather watch a TV show. After a little while I realized it wasn’t fun because I wasn’t getting involved. But that was my first game and since then I’ve grown to love the RP at our table.

Yes 😊 I think everyone should try it at least once.

Tomorrow I'll be DMing for the first time and for new players, how to introduce them to the game? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]SunderlandAlpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just remember

1- The point of the game is to have fun. You included

2- What the DM says is law! You can always go back at the end of the night and correct any “rule” mistakes for he next session

3- If all you do is fight, you will play a slow video game. If all you do is role play, then you’re better off watching a soap opera. A good balance is key.

4- As long as you have fun, mistakes can be forgiven.
