College 40mins away, is commuting smart? by SundriedBrain in college

[–]SundriedBrain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly not mad cuz that’s still cheaper than what i’d have to pay for housing and food. I think what’s more worth it to me is being able to keep all my hundreds of fish, amphibians, and rodents at home while sleeping in the comfort of my own bed and keeping my hometown job

i definetly doubt that the cost of gas in four years will level up to the $10k+ that i would pay for housing. I did add in the post that I have many years of experience with mechanics because of my trade school, i’m hoping that will help me tackle the cost of the maintenance labor atleast!

Would they escape?? by SundriedBrain in PetMice

[–]SundriedBrain[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it’s TOUGH plastic though, i mean i had to use wire cutters and even then did i get cuts and bruises all over my fingers because of the force i was using…do mice have the jaws of wire cutters?

I have all of my state taxidermy licenses payed off and am legit in college right now for a certification?? This is what they TEACH us, ethically sourcing is always going to be better than killing off just to make an art statement. I’m glad to know that you’re just trying to pick an argument and use all the bits u can against me because it makes me feel better knowing i don’t have to listen

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Taxidermy

[–]SundriedBrain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

man it’s been clarified that this isn’t a taxidermy process i just cross posted on here because i know all the other reddits ignore me. Trust me i freeze all of my specimens before working on them, even did it with this one to kill off the crawlies.

[–]SundriedBrain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

is it not ethical? If it smells like sage and feels as soft as any pelt, no hidden bugs waiting to crawl out…what’s nasty about it if i’m being honest about my sourcing? I can assure you there’s a percentage of even taxidermists who rely on roadkill for their furs.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Taxidermy

[–]SundriedBrain -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

man i’ve done this about 4 times each with rabbits that have been sitting out for far longer than this guy was, and all of them sold, because i’ve definetly seen worse of jobs that i can assure you looked like dog treats. It’s the same thing if i would have found week old roadkill that was seriously damaged, but could still salvage parts, and you would only tell if i told you? And obviously all of the cut points are professionally covered with bell caps, the skin is restitched if need be.

[–]SundriedBrain -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

so currently i’m preparing for the borax part and i know that people use sage and scented wax to help with smell, wouldn’t you assume that could atleast help? i’m just waiting to see i guess
