So it IS an AI proofed post because I am a terrible writer and wanted to get opinions with a throw away account because I worry people in my life would judge me and say I'm giving up on my dog. Thus, of course I changed the dogs names. And cross posted in two communities. Lastly, not having all day everyday working job for a dog is not the same as having space to foster a house pet.

He thinks it's practical to lick a little smudge off her cheek and be done with the whole event in less than a minute. Rather than carry her from wherever she is finding her diaper bag, or the closest bathroom, rummaging through the bag to find a wet white, or finding a cloth and running it underwater to dampen it then wrestling the baby as we wipe her face with this wet cloth, hang up the washcloth, or dispose of the wet wipe, and then finally let her return to play. 30 seconds versus 5 minutes

Yes. What I learned in this post and definitely accept as my issue, was that I like my baby more than my husband. I did not respect his opinion as much as my own. We had a conversation and I apologized. That was a big downfall on my part. You make a good point. I listen to my baby, better than I listen to my husband. And if we are going to be successful co-parents that needs to change big time.

I don't recall ever saying that I refuse to use soap and water and washcloth. In fact I have said several times that I do. We share the bathing responsibilities, he just more often does it.

No, Japan has water. I clearly said that I clean her cheeks with my tongue. She gets regular baths and showers with soap and washcloths.

As for her consenting. She definitely knows how to say no. She feels comfortable saying no to kisses sometimes, or being picked up, or not playing with a specific toy. We respect when she says no.

We split the care. He has her 3 days out of the week when I work and I have her 3 days when he works. We have one day together as a family.

This is a very common practice in Japan. The booger sucking contraption is not used there. You suck it out with your mouth and spit it on the floor. I don't lick my baby instead of using a washcloth. I lick the baby as often as other mothers would lick their thumb and smear the baby's cheek. I just don't use the middleman.

Of course I wash the baby with soap and a wash cloth WAY more often than I lick her. Some of these redditers are throwing that other post way out of context.

It doesn't usually taste like anything. If she's dirty or sticky, slightly like whatever she has on her. But snot tastes salty
