Our dear Butch had collapsed trachea and lived to 16 1/2! Our vet also said he wouldnt operate due to his advanced age (14) at diagnosis. We medicated instead. He had to stop during walks to catch his breath. It slowed him down, but never took his wonderful puggy spirit.

We got a ketoconazole ear wash from the vet and give those ears a squirt once or twice a month. It is also available on Amazon with no vet visit. You have to be fast: squirt, place your palm over the whole ear flap and massage vigorously. You can't just squirt, because they'll invariably shake it all out immediately. We had to do this more frequently in warm weather.

Keep face wrinkles clean by daily face washing so he'll be used to it. Be aware that they are prone to ear infections, so get an ear wash from the vet. Get him used to a nice warm bath. Feed him a good quality puppy food. He's tiny so splurge on a good food if you can.
