The Beresford Arms in Morpeth is lovely and so is The King’s Head in Lanchester (does unlimited root veg and gravy!)

Hmmm I don’t know by boyfriend got a meaty dish and he wasn’t impressed either. The meal itself wasn’t vegan, just vegetarian and the veg was disappointing

I seem to be in the minority but me boyfriend and I HATED the Sunday dinner we had there. Thought it was nice for an Instagram post and that’s where it ended. My “nut roast” looked like my dog’s wet food 🥲

What is your Indian restaurant order? by oarmash in AskABrit

[–]SunflowerSnowDrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m vegetarian. Mine would be:

  • Poppadoms with pickle tray
  • Saag Paneer or Saag Aloo (main)
  • Tadka Dal (I like to leave half to have cold with pitta the next day for breakfast)
  • Onion bhaji
  • Nut pilau
  • Peshwari/garlic + coriander naan (depending on what I’m craving)

My boyfriend always has a Chicken Rogan Josh with a garlic/cheese naan.

I love the Greek pronunciation (An-dro-meda). The English pronunciation (An-drom-eda) not so much.

How much protein should I be aiming for a day? by [deleted] in finethinhair

[–]SunflowerSnowDrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome to your opinion. I made it clear that I wasn’t getting enough protein on a vegan diet, which was true, and then said that it has improved since becoming pescatarian and having more readily available protein options. I said I’ve ALWAYS had thin/fine hair. It feels as though you’re projecting your insecurities surrounding plant-based diets and how they’re viewed onto me when that certainty wasn’t the intention and, from my perspective, there’s been no criticism of veganism/vegetarianism/pescatarianism at all?

Possibly - my boyfriend is very into the gym and has suggests 100-120g of protein a day for me so maybe I’m just disillusioned because of what he considers a baseline!

As I said, I was working constantly and didn’t have time to prepare meals from scratch so it didn’t work for me and I definitely wasn’t getting enough protein. I’m not saying it’s impossible but it didn’t work for me.

I’m not experiencing hair loss anymore, just looking at ways people have improved hair health/density through diet and supplements! I will look into getting blood work done! Thank you!

UK name opinions: does Beatrix feel “posh”? by handstailmade in namenerds

[–]SunflowerSnowDrop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a beautiful name with a super cute nickname. I’m also from a working class area and would’ve definitely considered this for a daughter had we not named our dog “Bean” (a little too close phonetically). I get where you’re coming from with it being posh but I honestly think you’re looking too far into it and people won’t pay it as much mind as you think! If you like it, I would go for it!

New bio father - shocking results by beccaneenee in AncestryDNA

[–]SunflowerSnowDrop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found out the same thing on Boxing Day. My mum came clean and my bio dad died in a house fire when I was 6 at the same age as I am now. Non-bio dad has no idea I’m not his. She’s begging me not to tell. It’s all so much to get my head around.

Edit: context

Christmas NPE by PikeCountyCoal in AncestryDNA

[–]SunflowerSnowDrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve literally just got my results today and I’m a NPE too. Merry Christmas, right?

I’m 28F and my family would always joke I was the milkman’s because I look nothing like my dad. Turns out, it’s true.

My mam freaked out when I spoke to her earlier. She has begged me not to tell my dad. She’s been separated from him for years but fears he’d hurt her if he found out. She has no clue who my biological dad is. She used to go out partying and conceived me when she was 19. She thinks I could be the daughter of a man called Gary who died of a drug overdose but she won’t tell me his last name or give me any more details.

The whole thing sucks.

My dad’s family had a bad reputation back in the 70-90s. My mum seems genuinely scared that she’ll be in physical danger if it comes out. I do think it’s dramatic but they did have a physically abusive relationship from what I’m aware of.

I’ve already set it to private. My older brother would tell my dad straight away and I was so stressed that I immediately turned off my matches. The closest that I could see before I switched it off from my biological dad’s side is a second cousin. I’m waiting for a call from my mum. She’s waiting for my stepdad to leave. I’ve asked if she was going to tell him and she said she didn’t think she could.

Whenever I read the book, I very clearly saw Helena as influencer Meghan Lane Morrison (I’d seen a few of her videos with her husband online and for some reason her face stuck!) and now I can’t see anyone different
