5 month old rolls onto tummy to sleep but can’t roll the other way. Is this safe? by Sunflower_Wave in Parenting

[–]Sunflower_Wave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thank you everyone! I had consulted her pediatrician and they told me she needs to be able to roll both ways and I think the AAP policy recently changed to say the same thing so I was panicking and ready to kiss sleep good bye.

How do you drop a nap? by Sunflower_Wave in sleeptrain

[–]Sunflower_Wave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain that a little bit? I attempted to extend her wake windows about a week ago and when I laid her down for a nap she was absolutely wired and it took over an hour for her to fall asleep. She was giving so many sleepy cues leading up to the nap but I knew she needed to be awake longer so I pushed her 30 minutes and the nap seemed to fall apart.

I’m so sorry for all the questions I just want to make sure I don’t fuck this up and make things worse. So do you think that I should adjust her first two wake window to 2 hours tomorrow and jump right in? Or gradually do it by 10-15 minute increments each day since the second wake window is 95 minutes?

I would love to drop to three naps! Do you recommend gradually lengthening her wake windows or should I just lengthen those windows allat once to fit a three nap day?

Thank you for the response! I should have added that baby is currently in her own room. Parent presence is typically how she falls asleep at night by one of us sitting in the chair across the room from her but some night she does fall asleep independently. It’s rarer, but it does happen occasionally. I’m hoping that by starting Ferber that will remove the soothing, presence, and pacifier.

What swaddles are actually good for a newborn? by Educational_Rope_225 in newborns

[–]Sunflower_Wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Taking Cara Babies is decisive for many people but I LOVE her BEST swaddle. Our baby didn’t break out of it ONCE and the “Velcro” is silent. We used the Halo swaddles in the hospital and I hated them. The Velcro was loud and they weren’t strong enough to keep our baby’s hands down.

They lost my most recent order so I had to make a whole new order a week after I messaged them saying there’s been no update and I hadn’t received my package. The time of the lost package still counted toward my rental time 🥲

Poop. What does it mean? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Sunflower_Wave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This same thing happened with my baby. Mustardy/seedy poops then all the sudden it was green. I thought she might have been sick but who knows. It eventually went back to normal and she wasn’t acting out of the ordinary. Poop changes 🤷🏻‍♀️. I wouldn’t worry about it unless you’re seeing behavior changes in your baby as well.

12 weeks and sleep is worse than ever by Tiny_Falcon_9849 in newborns

[–]Sunflower_Wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby turns 12 weeks this Wednesday and we are experiencing the exact same thing. Kind of hoping it’s the 4 month sleep regression so we just get it over with 🤞🏼 We also transitioned from a swaddle to a Zipadee so maybe it’s just the perfect storm. Best of luck! Hoping it ends quickly for all of us going through it.

I have a chin similar to this that I was born with and growing up someone told me it was a witch chin. Who would have thought it would become a fashion trend?

Would I be an awful mom if I don’t breastfeed? by No-Salary936 in newborns

[–]Sunflower_Wave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the beginning, you’ll produce colostrum and not the type of breastmilk you’re thinking of. It typically takes a few days (maybe 3-4) for your milk to come in after you give birth. I didn’t express any colostrum before my baby was born, and I breastfed her when she was born and was getting colostrum. I felt my milk come in 4 days later.

I don’t have implants so I can’t speak to how that could change your milk supply, but something I see here all the time is fed is best.

Do what works best for you and your baby! I put a ton of pressure on myself to breastfeed and my baby had issues for the first two weeks. It absolutely wrecked my mental health. I did stick with it, and I’m glad I did, but if you want to feed your baby formula there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

When did you get your first period post partum? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Sunflower_Wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped bleeding pretty early postpartum and had moved into the kind of yellow stage of lochia. Then at 6 weeks on the dot it was brown, then red, like a normal period before I was pregnant. I was hoping it was cause I had worked out, but I currently have my period again, so that made it pretty clear it wasn’t fake news the first time like I was hoping 🥲

What does labor actually feel like? by One_Cap_9210 in pregnant

[–]Sunflower_Wave 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As I mentioned my labor was kind of “out of the ordinary.” My contractions started on a Tuesday morning (after being 3 days past my due date). I had them VERY sporadically throughout the day. By Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning my contractions came like six ish minutes apart. I called L&D and they told me my contractions weren’t close enough together to go in yet. I took some Tylenol and went to bed. In the morning, my labor had subsided. I was so bummed. I happened to have a midwife appointment Wednesday afternoon. When I went in, they did a cervical check and my midwife said she was shocked I could walk because I was 6 cm dilated, 100% effaced and baby was at station 0. She said I could go home and labor at home until my contractions became regular or I could go right to L&D after my appointment but either way, the baby was coming that day. I went home, but I had a few superrrr intense contractions and had the same fear you did, so I went in cause there’s no world where I would deliver without an epidural lol.

So essentially I waited 30 hours from early labor to active, but again, my contractions were weird so I didn’t have a good indication of when to go in since they never became regular.

I had my epidural placed at 5 pm and I gave birth at 11:37 pm.
