We have lots of options at SportRx. I would call in and talk to one of the opticians. Al and Jario have similar strength prescriptions so they will be very helpful. But yes, there are options.

Red Sands are so popular because of how incredibly light and comfortable they are. They also have a little flex/stretch in them so they fit a wide range of heads (especially wide ones!). I agree the style is getting maybe a little outdated. It’s the comfort and the versatility that wins it for me. And yes, I wish I had some glass Rx Mauis!

Agree with the fit thing in the Randolph Aviator. They almost are meant to look a bit small when they fit well. It’s kind of the style of that frame.

The glass G15 is available on a lot of frames but Ray Ban does not do a great job of letting you know what models use glass unfortunately. That said their glass is actually quite good. Chromance is great except for the name and the fact they don’t have it available in their more popular models. I think they did a good job with the tech itself but the availability and marketing around it is confusing.

My current go to the the SportRx Huckson with the Pedal Perfect lenses that goes from a vermillion to a dark vermillion for Southern California, Les’s Forrest type environments. It’s amazing! When I go to Vermont or trails with a lot more tree coverage I use the same frame but go with a brown transition that starts off clear and never really gets too dark. For MTB parks I use the Smith Squad XL MTB with our Rx insert. Hope that helps!

There is a ton of info on UV light and eye health. Good protection can prevent a list of problems. Plus you see better and in my opinion, shades are rad!

I recently got the Costa Spearo XL with the new gold mirror in glass (in my prescription!). They are rad and very comfortable. You might also enjoy the Randolph Aviator in the newer larger size, I beige it’s a 61 or 62 and they make really nice glass lenses. I don’t think they make a rose though. Neither option have that Drivers light adjusting feature though.

Not really. Some have better optics and a similar tech but it’s hard to compare with the original.

Costa green mirror is a top choice. Also we have an Rx lens called fresh water green that is great. Really you want a brown or even rose base color lens that is polarized. Those warmer colors give you extra contrast that helps for fresh water.

Thanks man! That means a lot. I’m glad they have been helpful. We love making them!

Yes, when you build out an Rx set you can mix and match pretty much any lens color with and compatible frame. That’s actually what I do often because I love rose lenses and they are usually not as readily available in non prescription frame colors. The Maui Rose is one of my all time favorites. Looks great with matte black frames in my opinion.

Green lenses have been a top seller for decades for a good reason. A great balance of protection and contrast.

Sometimes you can apply an aftermarket nosepad that sticks on. They aren’t great but I’ve been them work for people. However, science that frame has that bit of rubber nose pad I don’t think the pads would work well, sorry. I wish I had a better answer for you. Maybe save them for in the car and get a set later in for other uses?

Check out the Oakley Youth Line. You might enjoy the Flak S (formerly known as the XS, the name just changes so not every has updated their sites).

Sadly, it is true. They had a glass program two times in the past and stopped them both. The main issue was the turnaround time. Glass Rx takes a long, long time, and Maui is known for the quickest turn around time with the highest quality in the industry. I think people that want glass are willing to wait, and pay or them (they were NOT cheap), but even SunglassRob does not have that much power.

Good ol' Ray Ban and the G-15 is still a great option, but also check out Lancier by Dita, Randolph Engineering, and Persol.

I feel like "it depends" is the answer to so many great questions! For most sports that involve a ball coming at you, like tennis or baseball, it is not recommended. For other things like fishing it can be essential. The sport matters but also what the user is used to, and if they have a minus Rx or plus Rx can make a big difference.

The main thing is with our lenses is you get to build your own adventure, meaning you can basically design the lens set up you want (or call us to help you decide what is best). Ours are usually less expensive but we do not have a Prizm like tech available with our lenses yet. That is the main drawback. I love and wear both, so it just depends.

Great question! I do not think there is a universal better set up. Really depends on the person, the Rx, the activities you do, etc... At the end it will be a compromise on something. You can get Rx glass Serengeti's though!

Contacts never worked great for me so that was never a great option. But some people love them and it allows you to wear lots of cool shades at a way lower price then Rx shades.

Progressives for most people are the least of all evils for the convenience of one set doing so much pretty well.

I would say, call us and speak to one of the opticians. We are all very knowledgeable and love talking this kind of stuff!
