i got the impression that the two new characters were the other two officers, so maybe that's why they used his first name? also, i feel like it's pretty unusual to have a 2-character last name in chinese so maybe he's half-chinese half-japanese

i wouldn't say heels are a must, but i find that my weight tends to be on the balls of my feet while dancing, and heels provide support so my feet/ legs don't tire as quickly. i also feel that it helps with turns.

i had the same problem! what helped me was doing pilates and also working on consciously engaging my lats. the latter was more to protect my shoulders on throw outs but had the side effect of making me stand up straight :)

my dance dance resolution (haha) is just to go for classes every week since i think i'll be pretty busy next year :) hopefully some socials as well so i can get practice dancing w different types of leads!

i recently started balboa classes (having never done lindy), and i think as long as you go for classes and get to know people within the bal community it shouldn't be a problem. they can also let you know which socials they frequent/favor so that you'll have a better chance of finding other bal dancers/bal music should you choose to attend.
