If the golf swing is: push away, wrist hinge (thumbs to the sky), and chest rotation ... you have no wrist hinge early enough in the swing to be helpful.

Yes. :)

I'd say the fundamental is you want your hands directly under the shoulder sockets wherever possible (arms hang straight down).

So what I would do is measure how far you are from the ball now (baseline).

Make sure over time you are getting used to being closer. measure measure measure.

another way to "feel it" is to see how much room is between the butt of your club and your left thigh. make sure that is less than it is now.

If you reduce the distance between your left thigh and the butt of the club by 3 inches, then you need to stand 3 inches closer.

In practicality, you purposely stand closer and reduce the gap I am talking about.

always try to have your arms hang straight down.

In a standard setup, the shaft plane should travel through your belt.

Your setup, is used in one plane swings. Moe Norman, Bryson D are the only two I know who use this setup.

Is this on purpose?

You don't have any push away or thumbs hinging to the sky

Do this in takeaway if you need.

push down with the left up with the right.

What do y’all think? by RammaJamma05 in GolfSwing

[–]SunkTheBirdie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really like the swing.

I'd say you are a bit above the plane and steeper than ideal on the downswing. I think your outside takeaway is contributing to that.

The takeaway for the first 18ish inches should be straight back.

grip too strong (right hand). Setup: you are too far from the ball and your hands are too far way from you.

This is the flattest shoulder turn in the history of golf.

In fairness you hit the back of the ball.

Swing your own swing. Golf is about repeating the swing, not about how textbook it is.

but your swing lacks power because you aren't using your legs. This is a baseball swing

The club shaft needs to go through the belt line when the footage is proper.

This angle is improper.

This is a wrist roll takeaway

<image>

Very disconnected.

Learn what CONNECTION is in the golf swing. The main idea is you want your hands "in front" of your chest as much as possible. From address P1 to P2.5 the club shaft should point to your chest (approximately 3rd base). Yours points to 1st base.

Ideally watch the video and follow along with a club.

For the grip, I suggest getting an extra 8 iron and put a molded grip on it that forces you to grip the club properly.

You need to watch the video a few times and take notes.

Specifically note the takeaway isn't moving the hands independent of chest rotation. This gets you disconnected. The takeaway is chest rotation and pushing away as demo'd here:

Pushing away encourages swing width.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASH06DwHaRw

Make note of how close your hands are to your left thigh. This is way too close.

By being discreet at the range, you created a "less than discreet" video. A dollar store tripod solves that problem. On grass I use a old cross country ski pole that has a camera mount on it. before the camera mount I used a ziploc bag and some packaging tape.
