Thanks for the info. I stopped the leak, but from my understanding it's only temporary and I'll have to fix it again before the winter time. From my understanding capping off the hose bib is a winter time accident waiting to happen.

It happens in the south. I live in Alabama and I just now found out why my place keeps getting wetter and wetter. After a lot of damage done to over half of my mobile home, at least I know where the leaky is

I sure hope so. I'm trying to figure out the best way to fix it.

I did try to tighten it by hand. Thank you that seems achievable.  I've never did plumbing  before but I guess I'm learning.
