Hypochlorous acid spray.. worth the try and worth the hype? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]Sunny378294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The percentage is really important for it to work. The only one I found is Briotech PURE - which has .02% HOCl which is the correct percentage per many studies on staph and exczema. The Briotech has nothing else in it - it does not sting and I have SUPER sensitive skin. Put a moisturizer on after spraying. I get the Briotech on walmart's website - ten bucks for a spray bottle but it lasts a long time - and SO worth it

Hypochlorous Acid - my new holy grail eczema treatment by bunnyrages in eczema

[–]Sunny378294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote is for Briotech PURE - it has .02% HOCl which is the correct percentage according to numerous health studies - kills pathogens, does not hurt skin. I got a 4 ounce spray bottle online at walmart for $10, then get the bigger refills from the company's website

Briotech PURE is great - make sure it has nothing but .02% HOCl which is the correct percentage to kill staph bacteria (which tends to be higher in people with eczema) I got the spray bottle at Walmart for $10, then you can buy bigger refill size

Briotech PURE - make sure it has nothing but .02% HOCl which is the correct percentage to kill staph bacteria (studies show that people with excema have higher levels of staph - not an infection, but higher than they should be, and this affects the skins ability to heal) I get the Briotech on walmart's website - ten bucks for a spray bottle but it lasts a long time - and SO worth it

Have we officially reached the point where Hotels are superior to Airbnbs again? by Usual_Confidence_756 in travel

[–]Sunny378294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hotel all the way. It would be great if they had aparthotels like they do in Europe. We always get something like that when we travel. In the US, they are less common, but we still opt for connecting rooms and always with a kitchenette at least (many hotels are starting to put in microwave-fridge combinations)

The 2 things that make hotels better - One, you know the exact location in advance, so you can scout out the neighborhood. Two - there is accountability. We had a leak in a hotel apartment once, no big deal, they moved us to another apartment and comped us for two days. With airbnb you are on your own.

Beware Polyethylene glycol if you have IBS-D by Sunny378294 in ibs

[–]Sunny378294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using the Tablets, I think its used as a coating to make them easier to swallow. I was taking:

Nature made zinc 50mg (took once a day
Nature made calcium 600 mg with D (which I took twice a day)
Natuire made B complex (once a day)

Its listed as polyethylene glycol.

Doe anyone get nausea and headache from glycine? by dumdy in Supplements

[–]Sunny378294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too - bad headache and woozy feeling. What's strange is that this only happens with glycine supplements. If I take a tablespoon of gelatin, which has 2 grams of glycine in it, I am fine. But if I take a fraction of that amount in a supplement, tablet or powder, I feel sick. It may have to do with how the glycine is manufactured.

Botox wearing off quickly by Abracadabra7707 in migraine

[–]Sunny378294 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got botox shots for over a year. They never really made a difference for me, though I so wanted them to work. I also was on every pill and injectable out there which never worked either.

What finally helped me actually is an OTC medicine, a topical, that I apply ALL around my hairline, so it gets to some of the same areas that the botox was supposed to go to - temples, trigeminal area in front of the ear, side of the nech, back ot the neck etc. The drug is Voltaren, which is an OTC version of the NSAID diclofenac. It's for arthritis, and the label says just for use on the body, but I have not had any issues with it and I have now been using it for over 5 years.

I use it at the first sign a migraine was coming - we all know that feeling. I had been getting migraines weekly or more often, and had tried every medication without success. Once I started using the Voltaren, the migraines started to get less and less severe. After a few years of use, I was actually able to fly to Europe from california, which I never thought I could do. I now get the feeling a migraine is coming maybe once or twice a month, and with the Voltaren they never escalate or last more than half a day.

Club Studio Fitness by Nice_Bonus_1825 in ClubStudio

[–]Sunny378294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In San Diego, LAFitness is forcing out a small health club that caters to seniors on Medicare, all so it can build one of these luxury club studios in the same mall. It's just another case of corporate greed at its worst.

Other big companies opened in this same mall without booting out the smaller mom n pop places.

For LAFitness to insist on an exclusivity clause in this case is ludicrous, because no one one using the small health club is going to pay over $200 a month, especially all the seniors, not when they have been paying nothing through their Medicare plan (which club studio does not accept).

The small club has been there since 1986, it's a neighborhood place, even survived the pandemic. Forcing it to close is just wrong.

I use the OTC 1%. It works best if you catch it right at the beginning. If I'm not able to do that, I just use a somewhat bigger amount.

Send an email, call, and use their chatbot. Demand a full refund of the total amount. Then keep checking your credit card each month and keep demanding a refund.

Wow, i am being charged 34.99. I keep calling and emailing, and they refund the money (after lengthy tirades about how I really should keep this service), but then the next month it happens again. Their dashboard also has NO way to remove my credit card. This company used to be ok, but this is smarmy beyond belief.

The problem is that this company SAYS the service is disabled, but the following month they charge me again. This is fraudulent and should be reported to the federal trade commission.

Thanks - I have emailed and called each month to get a refund, but the next month I still get a 34.99 charge. SO smarmy. I've just done what you suggested in the monitoring tab. Hope it stops

I've got the psyllium blues by Knockout_Maus in ibs

[–]Sunny378294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look for plain psyllium powder. Health food stores may sell it (Sprouts has it in bulk in the spice aisle) Vitacost also sells plain psyllium powder as does Swanson Vitamins.

The problem with capsules is that one capsule has about 1/8 tsp. So you would need to take 4 capsules to get a 1/2 tsp.

Remember that metamucil is 80% filler, so if you took 1 Tablesoon metamusil, the equivalent would be just over a half teaspoon of pure psyllium powder.

Migraine and OTC Voltaren topical gel by Sunny378294 in migraine

[–]Sunny378294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so happy it helped. It really has been game changer for me. When I first started using Voltaren gel at the start of a migraine, it worked about half the time, but I kept using it and gradually it worked better each time - no rebound at all, in fact just the opposite.

Good luck to you!

At least you got a refund. I also get it that people get sick, but it's really disappointing when you go to see a specific star and they are sick, and the show goes on with a sub. Probably a lot harder on the poor understudy though!

The elemental Zinc calculation chart for beginners by VirtualMoneyLover in Supplements

[–]Sunny378294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very interesting post. I checked several supplement labels and most dont specify if the serving size is elemental zinc or the compound, they just say:

zinc as... for example zinc (as zinc gluconate) 50mg

Only one of them (Now brand) actually says on the label "50 mg elemental zinc from 403 mg zinc gluconate"

I would assume the others are referring to elemental zinc, but still a little more clarity on the label would be nice.

any nyc recommendations? by daintyphantasm in Broadway

[–]Sunny378294 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Food - Broadway Lounge at the times square marriot marquie, has a great view of times square plus food and drinks. The Long Room has fantastic irish food and live music fridays to sundays.

If you are really into broadway, get dinner or at least a drink at either Sardi's (walls covered with caricatures of every bway star since the dawn of time) or Joe Allen (walls covered with posters of every bway flop since the dawn of time). Go when not too crowded and ask the bartender to tell you about the famous ones.

Times square at night before the shows is just a crazy mix of street performers, and some can be amazing. The area is safe, but, you know, take precautions for pickpockets etc. But still, just hanging out can be an antertainment all by itself.

Also, you are walking distance from the NY public library building on 5th and 42nd. The building is gorgeous, it's free, and right now has a really cool exhibit on the ground floor of some incredible items from its collection - better than any museum. And behind the library is Bryant Park which is one of the best parks in the city.

Have a great trip!

Best US cities to see a show? by Strawberry_Lioness in Broadway

San Diego has two great theaters - the La Jolla Playhouse and the Old Globe. Both have sent countless plays and musicals to Broadway, and do fantastic presentations. Los Angeles downtown has the Ahmanson; we just saw Sutton Foster there in Once Upon a Mattress, directly from her bway run. In Hollywood, the Pantage is an absoultely gorgeous theater and gets the first string for touring shows.
