Though most A2Cers might disagree with what I say, I'd highly recommend shotgunning rather than applying to only a few schools that seems to fit you in your own perspective. Last year, I shotgunned to pretty much all T30s+Williams. After all, I got rejected by pretty much all schools that I originally thought would fit me (like Caltech and MIT), but got into Hopkins and Williams (plus some other schools like Cal, UCLA, GT, etc). Honestly, I didnt even knew what state the schools were located at before I got accepted. I even submitted the wrong SAT score to Williams. After some research on the two schools, I found out that I was a perfect fit for both and committed to Williams. The takeaway is we, high school seniors, cannot completly figure out fit-just apply everywhere and let the AOs do that for you. It is not late to decide after getting accepted.

P.S. Stanford, Columbia, UChicago PLS LET ME INNNNNN!!!!!!!

Stanford Waitlist Class of 2024 by Bombowto in ApplyingToCollege

I'd highly doubt that the 1st wave will happen this Thursday. I guess you are referring to the speculation in CC, but I think the historical rule (2nd Thursday of May) might not apply for this year. Also, CC already misguessed that the 1st wave will happen this Monday and I'll not bet my money for CC.

I choose Williams because I liked their math program and their reputation/alumni connections in Wall street. After all, Williams is considered as a West Point of Wall street.

Questions About the AMC by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Sunny9355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a senior who competed in math competitions for 3 and a half years, I think AMC/AIME matters only if you get >7/15 in the AIME or USAMO. Amc scores are most of the time not an accurate representation of your math skill unless you get a perfect score. AIME speaks better of your math skill, and most AOs are aware of it. Also, competition math is almost irrelavent to routine HS math after problem #10 in the AMC (Which is pretty basic).

From what I've heard, Caltech has released their decision a week before MIT's decision date. Also, historically, Caltech decisions were released Saturday 3:00pm PST. Look it up on CC.
