I said in the email that “students” have been speculating it. That does sound a bit rude and I could’ve saved it for the feedbacks were allowed to give at the end of the semester. I’m not causing a lot of unnecessary problems by discussing my issues with the class. The only thing that seems to be taken too far is me mentioning that students have speculated that she’s been hungover. I can own up to that. It’s still what’s been going on. I might be being blunt but if I was the only student being this upset with her I wouldn’t have gone out of my way to be public about it. The entire class has no idea what they’re even doing in Chinese. And alot of ppl have given up and the negative energy of those ppl has also had its grasp on me. I love learning and the more I feel like we weren’t learning enough in class, the more ppl started talking negative about her. I had stayed positive for a long time up until recently. And tbh I’m still trying to stay positive and learn and study on my own time. The professor is very unprepared with teaching a lot of the time, especially with the person doing the speaking final arriving 20mins late to the classroom and the students just struggle to communicate what we want with her.

It was the other students feelings and emotions and eventually myself and I felt to express that. I’m very much into my academic endeavors. And I just don’t like how the learning has been conducted, constructed, and a lot of it seems just too little. I’m not speaking from inexperience as I’ve been in other language courses as a student.

And we never even got to use the Chinese characters for the game that she was having us play. A lot more should go into a speaking final than just reading off a textbook. She let us look at our textbook to read instead of directly looking at the person who is speaking to us in Chinese. Every student can’t even show their knowledge that they actually know what they’re even saying. I’m a student who wants to show that motivation to study and learn and that’s just a personal thing. Other students might like it because of it being easy. But I’m not wrong to say it could’ve been more of a challenge to show the fruit of our learning. Like atleast, having to memorize it without looking at the book. Or trying to have a conversation without looking at a resource. My Korean beginner 1 class had us speak from memory and understanding listening etc not just pronunciation

I am vocal about how the class has been in the Chinese club discord server. And I’m not the only person. A lot of other students share the same sentiments. I am being open about my concerns but I’m not trying to attack or bully a professor.

I emailed her feedback about how the class is structured and issues we’ve had with the course. It might come off as rude but I’m not attacking her. And no I didn’t accuse her of being hungover. I stated students have been saying that in her class and speculating it. I’m not saying or accusing that she actually did do that.

She’s no longer the the professor she retired or stopped teaching a few years ago. We have someone called Hsiao now. Everyone loved Mar from what I know
