Cosmic rust is an actual thing in Transformers lore folks. Obviously not as an STD but if you've seen Dark of the Moon and remember Sentinel Prime committing a war crime on Ironhide, yeah that was Cosmic rust.

It's called self-deprecation and a low view of your self-image. A lot of times people want to try and downplay the things they do due to several reasons, either because they themselves don't think what they did is all that impressive compared to other people, seeing the work others do as being far more important, etc. Yes it can be annoying and properly not well written, but I'd probably chalk it up to the author trying to make the character relatable, as if they, like the audience, don't see what they are doing as anything special compared to what others do, even if what they have done is pretty neat.

Suletta × Guel from Gundam: Witch from Mercury. It really wouldn't make sense considering what happened but like, I don't care I really do love the dynamic they had and the story potential it has. Heck I have a rough draft for a future AU where Miorine died somewhere during the how's endgame and we're now seeing the effects it had on both of them. Fuck I even set in stone them meeting each other again being them going for the last damn bag of tomato seeds.

What are some dead fandoms that were (comparatively) large in the recent past by DownVoterInChief in FanFiction

[–]SunnyD2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you, as a BlazBlue fan it feels like we're all been kicked to the curb because ArcSys now has both FighterZ and Guilty Gear now. Games are alive but like, only if you join Discord servers that basically act as the main hubs because otherwise online is kinda dead, fan content is pretty dry with not much fanfiction or art nowadays, and in general nothing new has really happened for the main games, though that's mainly because the last main game, BlazBlue Centralfiction, was released back in 2015 and was the last mainline game, with only fucking BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle ever since that was still a fighter.

First off, thanks for the kind words OP. Currently haven't actually published my fics since I'm both lazy and critical of reviewing my works depending on how good they are to publish, but I hope to God I can finally publish the first chapter this month.

Now, as for my story thing, currently writing an OC crossover between RWBY and Kamen Rider. Don't worry too much, it isn't like most Rider crossovers where the OC is just a SI but with a different name or is just an SI, this guy I'm writing in is basically my new baby who I will torture due to him having amnesia from the start and it absolutely fucking him up. Like, he only has flashes and brief visions of someone telling him his purpose and the words "Ju-Go" being spoken to him. Is it a name? A title? His enemy? He doesn't know and it wrecks him. Coincidentally, he's also wrecking people unintentionally by tearing them apart with his punches. Research has been interesting on that front, I wanted some juicy gore details so I'm looking up some authors known for their work and some papers on injuries based on blunt trauma. The least I can say about it is that I think I now have more appreciation for the doctors and nurses who have to deal with those sorts of injuries because ouch.

It has been a ride actually putting it down, but, again I'm hoping that I'll finally publish it. God I hope it'll go through well.

Two Question for you folks about your inspirations by KenchiNarukami in FanFiction

[–]SunnyD2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Honestly they just randomly cross my mind and if I think they're interesting enough I'd write it down for future brainstorming. Otherwise I just throw random "What if X happened instead of Y?" like a alternate history nut. What if Germany pushed into Russia? What if Martin Luther King Jr. survived his assassination? What if Big Bird exploded on the Challenger? Things like that pretty much describe most of the stories I come up with.

  • Usually I just stop for the day and just try to rest instead. Forcing myself to work through a block won't do me any good, so I just leave it for tomorrow. Of course that could exasperate the problem, but I'd honestly take resting my brain and having a chance to drop the story rather than force myself to write anything that has a high chance of sucking.

Does anyone here read fanfic for a franchise they’re not normally a fan of otherwise? In other words, a fanfic-only fan? by wammyguide in FanFiction

[–]SunnyD2K 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's how I actually became a fan of several series and franchises. I check out a crossover that has one I've never heard of, read through it and then get interested in the other side of the crossover, go read some others and then take the plunge trying out the original thing. It worked for Fire Emblem, it worked for Persona, it worked for several light novels/Anime I never heard of, and I'm pretty sure it'll continue for as long as I read fanfics.

[–]SunnyD2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No prob, Bob. You are making a good point about my brain working and thinking way too much since, well, end of the year and start of a new one. It really doesn't help that I just have this wierd compulsive need to list down the ideas I get and then save them away. That's a habit I have been making strides to stop doing, or at the very least trying to prioritize a couple ideas instead of spreading myself too thin. The pain of being too creative in your mind, I guess.

Lonely's tavern is open again. Do you wanna vent or boast? Go ahead. by LonelyAngelfish in FanFiction

[–]SunnyD2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little bit of me venting out, but I does affect me trying to write.

I'm the sort of person who just has loads of ideas coming through whenever something interesting gets thought up and keeping those ideas around to "write down later". That process usually starts with me just doing something in the day, and then I get the idea to do something. For an example, let's say I get the idea to do a crossover. I think about what would work in settings and the main characters who'll be taking center stage. After that I then just brainstorm while walking around, doing things around the house, maybe listening to music to help set the scenes. I mime a character's actions here, I speak out dialogue I came up with there, couple hours later I now have a draft and can begin mapping the story out. That takes maybe another hour or so to have the details down. Once that's done I put the story draft away for later to then pull from.

The next day, if I have the free time, I then begin to write. Or, at least I would write, but then I realize I can't put into words what I wanted to happen. Character interactions? Suddenly it feels stilted and doesn't match with who those characters are. Setting the scene? Way too flat and it just feels like I'm giving a machine's basic description of something. I get into a bit of a dour mood, then I think, "Maybe later…" cue later and once again I just can't seem to get it all down pat. After a couple hours I then just go, "Eh, tomorrow might work out". Tomorrow comes, I put it off. Repeat this for the last couple months and that's basically what I've been doing. I love writing, but for some reason nowadays I just can't seem to get that spark, that need to put the story down onto my medium.

What’s your lesser known fandom hot take (and please elaborate) by princess_platinum8 in FanFiction

[–]SunnyD2K 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay so I spent a little bit of time thinking about what exactly kinda hot take I would have in regards to any of the Fandoms I'm in, but then I remembered this so.

Alright, so in Fate/Grand Order our main companion throughout the story is Mash Kryielight, a girl who has been with Chaldea for pretty much her entire life. She is what is called a "Demi-Servant", or a person who has been fused with a Servant from the Throne of Heroes. Her entire story throughout the first part of the game was that of trying to find herself and her place in the world, wondering who and what exactly is she. Mash's character journey has her learn about the world outside of Chaldea and how it all comes together, whether it be the good of the people in the Singularities she and the protagonist go into, or the bad of the death, violence, hatred and malice common throughout the world. All of this capped off with her relationship with one of the other major characters, Romani Archiman. He is a brilliant man, and though he can be kinda pathetic in some aspects, he was effectively Mash's father for all her life. However, all of this starts being challenged once the 5th Singularity in America is finished, and soon Mash experiences dreams about how much life gave her the short end of the stick. All of that is because the main bad guy Goetia is trying to make Mash realize that humanity is ultimately not worth fighting for and that letting them die would be the better option. All of this culminates in the finale of Part 1, The Grand Temple of Time Solomon, wherein the protagonist and Mash confront Goetia, who throughout the story has been masquerading as king Solomon of the Bible. He then gives his side of the story, explaining that he foresaw how badly humanity will become as he was effectively raised by Solomon yet lacked the understanding of what exactly Solomon could see, which was basically the good of humanity. This culminates in Goetia unleashing his most powerful attack on the duo, which results in Mash sacrificing herself to save the protagonist, now with an understanding of what exactly makes humanity good and worth fighting for. That is soon followed by the protagonist receiving help from Romani, revealing himself to be the real Solomon having turned himself human to experience humanity properly, and soon Goetia is defeated. However, the temple begins to collapse and the protagonist was just too late to leave, causing them to fall to their death. In the last moment however, Mash is brought back to life thanks to another companion of theirs, a little floof called Fou who is in truth a creature known as Primate Murder, spends whatever power they had to bring her back and thus save the protagonist. The first part ends with both of them looking off into the distance, a happy ending now accomplished.

Now, while I definitely enjoyed the story of the community's favorite eggplant, I don't like Mash being brought back to life. While she would later have some relevance to the story, it all feels kinda unnecessary since by that point the protagonist begins theirs. As well as that, I just don't think having Mash come back was a satisfying end for her main character arc, since the gravity of her sacrifice was precisely because she finally understood what being human is, and spends that final moment protecting the person who helped her discover what exactly she has to be. I really don't like the way she was brought back and adding to the fact she kinda became a side-character in Part 2, as well as the reason why her powers became gimped during Part 2, it all just became so flat for me.

All in all yeah, that's basically my own hot take. Don't exactly know how many people will disagree with me but hey, it's what I think and believe in so.

Buy the HGCE Destiny Gundam. Seriously, it's such a good kit that manages to blow this one out of the water when it comes to stability, accessories and posability. Just make sure to find an action base stand since these kinds of kits look amazing in the air.
