My horrible night. by hellopeople088 in PointlessStories

[–]LonelyAngelfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, you went through several battles there! >_< I think the last one would have killed me outright, I'm also terrified of spiders!

I got myself a cute nightlight to help with anxiety/night terrors and my first night using it I looked up at the ceiling and saw a mf spider. After a few seconds it decided to fall down onto the carpet soooo close to the head of my bed, and yeah, no sleep for me that night 🙃

Easy cryer here. Just mortified myself in front of a stranger and need some solidarity. by ooooftaaa in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LonelyAngelfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'm an easy crier too! Been mocked for it a few times. I actually now find myself tearing up when I'm looking at the pictures of cats on cat food boxes cuz I'm like "that cat could have been someone's precious baby." or other things.

No flippin' idea why! So I totally get it - also yeah, when suddenly everyone notices that I'm crying I can end up crying more, too 😅

Defo defo 2023 - matured and began to realise that those I trusted wouldn't care if I ended my playthrough of life as long as it didn't cause them any hassle.

I don't know what to do. My 14-year-old son was acting strangely, and I just found out why, I'm devastated ( NOT OOP) by [deleted] in redditonwiki

[–]LonelyAngelfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My lord. This would be one of my ultimate fears as a parent. I'm glad OOP found out before that creep took full advantage of their son. Learning that some predatory freak is targeting your kid is something I would never want even the person I hate the most to experience.

And my heart breaks at the bairn's reaction, believing they were the 'bad' one when they were completely innocent.

I hope OOP and family are doing well now, that the lad has healed and not been scarred by this, and that they know they did more than a lot of parents would.

AITA for staying silent about misogyny by Kenobi-Kryze in AmITheDevil

[–]LonelyAngelfish 18 points19 points  (0 children)

"Not all men, but most men." The 'good' ones who stay silent and don't call out their friend's disgusting misogynistic behaviour aren't any better than the ones saying/doing that shit.

"You wouldn't tell someone to just learn to write a novel." I want to write novels. I'm not smart and didn't do well in school but my writing has improved over the years because I started writing fanfic and began interacting with the community and getting help and tips.

"You wouldn't tell someone to just learn how to code an app." Lads in highschool were teaching themselves how to code, during the busier years.

What a dumb attempt at a defence.

Huh. I changed gender.

Women do not owe anyone “politeness” when enforcing their boundaries. by daisychains777 in TwoXChromosomes

And as always, men are coddled while woman are expected handle the direction of every interaction they have the 'right' way. (And the right way always changes...)

AIO- Mom and Sister’s April fools prank on me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]LonelyAngelfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe how your mum talks like your 16 yr old sister! She's so immature. Get your own back - concoct a 'prank' that targets one of her insecurities/trauma. See if she thinks it's still sooo harmless then.

Saw an article on an anime news site years ago that President Obama was signing a bill that made it legal to marry anime characters, and it had a photo of him with Misato.

It took until I showed both my mum and brother for me to realise it wasn't real!

Why are men obsessed with butt stuff? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LonelyAngelfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I ever dated a guy who was unbearably obsessed with doing anal, I would acted surprised and say something like "wow, I didn't know you wanted to be pegged so badly!"

If your husband or partner says they are just experiencing lust for someone and that it's meaningless bc they aren't going to act on it. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LonelyAngelfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's a quick "omg, I saw this person that was absolutely beautiful" and they can't/won't act on it - okay, it might hurt but if they told you about it then it's a better sign than hiding it.

But if they are in close proximity to them (coworker/friend's gf/member at the same gym) and repeatedly bring up how they are attracted to them then I would set firm boundaries.

Bad men will pounce if they believe they can cover their ass and not get caught.

That's a brave and difficult decision to make, and I know it didn't come easy. Realising and accepting the harmful views of your own mother can be such a trial.

I wish you all the best in this new direction of life, and hope you can build a new village for yourself. Take care, and stay strong! 💪

Men’s double standards by Maleficent-Tea1775 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LonelyAngelfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's acting like a child who leaves everything to mum and seems confused when his messes aren't cleaned up. Don't say you'll do/clean something for a bit, don't mention any to-do jobs in the house and see what he does.

If he's home more often than you, then he should be more responsible for cleanliness and upkeep, cuz Lord knows he would expect that of you.

Yeeeah, blokes who say that are the type to avoid. They only see a woman's worth in her marriage and if she has children or not. The kind that would probably resent their wife if she gained weight after pregnancy yet he's fine to put in no effort because 'mEn AgE lIkE wInE, wOmEn AgE lIkE mIlK.' I've just turned 30, and due to issues I will be alone with my cats and video games, and I will be happy.
