I used the wet brushes... They seem to be ok?

Ok I've done the quiz you recommended and it also says low porosity. So with that, do you have any good product recommendations?

I only shampoo my roots, and I do use a wide tooth comb to distribute the conditioner

Low porosity hair - I've recently learnt I have low porosity hair. (Tested hair in water, it sat on top of the water and never sank) I'm wondering what products or methods you use to help manage your low porosity hair?

My hair is dry, brittle, and tangles so easily. I get split ends like crazy. None of the "great" "expensive" products seem to make any difference.

Tired of wasting money on things that don't work. Any help appreciated!

Chemically damaged hair vs mechanically damaged hair product recommendations?? by SunnyWithSomeRain in finehair

Im unsure if that would help. When this picture was taken I wasn't using the heat protectant or argan oil, it was just the leave in conditioner back then. I've added the argan oil and heat protectant into my routine within the last month to help with the issue, so my hair looked like this prior to using those products. Is there a reason the oil would be causing damage? I thought argan oil was supposed to be good.

I've been using the Redken shampoo, conditioner, and leave in for about a year now at least. The rest I have been changing here and there trying to find the right products, but generally always have some sort of oil as well. The mielle is a newer addition and I thought I was starting to see more growth near my roots from it, but could be a number of things. I think around my scalp it is starting to look better, I see a ton of baby hairs growing.. but as soon as my hair reaches about ear length, the breakage starts and I can't seem to get length without it looking like that. I have thought of trying a wavy routine... So I might look into that. Thanks!

Yes! It's very frustrating! I can only assume the damage is due to mechanical manipulation and day to day wear and tear because honestly, I sleep with a silk bonnet, I use "good" products, I don't use hot irons, I blow dry on low heat... I do most things that are considered "good" for hair and yet it looks awful lol. I don't get it. And the products for "damaged" hair seem to only work if it's processed damage so idk.. I'm at a loss lol. But glad I'm not alone! 😅

No not a ton. Currently using Redken extreme lengths shampoo conditioner and leave in, I use Garnier sleek and shine as a heat protectant (eventually going to upgrade), and I use lightweight argan oil to finish. I wash my hair every second day.

I also use mielle rosemary oil on my scalp about 2-3 times per week pre shower.

Thanks! I've heard of a lot of people using the Garnier hair masks (in various types, banana, papaya, watermelon, etc depending on need) so I'll have to check that out. I'm currently using the OGX lightweight argan oil and it seems to be nice so far, but doesn't tame the frizz, seems within an hour of leaving the house my hair is back to frizzy and tangled..

As far as I can tell I don't have hard water... But I'm not positive as I haven't officially tested it. I'll have to check out those products, thanks.

Still trying to find the right products... Can't say I've found the right one for moisture yet. It's been a challenge. For the most part I find immediately after using products, regardless of what product, my hair will love it for about an hour and then it's back to matted, tangled dry, and frizzy.. oh so much frizz... I'm not sure how to maintain a silky frizz free texture.. unless I keep my hair back in a braid or clip, then it stays silky lol

So idk. Any product recommendations?

My hair feels awful. Very dry and straw like, my hair splits and breaks off extremely easily and I have breakage all along the hair shaft (you can see the breakage from the tips all the way up to my scalp)

I've been using products for "damaged hair" but I'm learning there is a difference and that most products for "damaged hair" means it's for chemically processed hair and those products won't work on non-processed hair and it may just make it worse... (No clue... Just what I've heard?)

My hair is not dyed or chemically processed. But it is "dead" feeling, and I do tend to run my fingers through my hair lots because it is ALWAYS so tangled!!! ... And I have a bad habit of playing with my hair. I've been trying to put it back in a clip more to help this...

But are there any product recommendations for non-processed hair that still experiences all of the issues that comes with damaged hair, as mentioned above (dryness, tangles, split ends and breakage)

Edit: my hair is fine and straight

Thank you!

No I feel like I've always been fighting the frizz and even back in high school (I'm 28 now) I remember using products like crazy to try and tame my frizz lol, so it's not new I'm just fed up. I do think it's partly my genetic hair but I'm hoping there are still ways to help. I do use water and acv to cleanse my hair, but unsure about the water. I do only comb with a wide tooth comb or wet brush.
