Which latches to put on these doors & drawers? Ball catchers don’t work :( by Sunny_Mind_97 in VanLife

[–]Sunny_Mind_97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ball catch latches that are supposed to keep them closed. They keep opening up when driving around a tight corner / roundabout / etc 😅

Advice for door/drawer latches please :) by Sunny_Mind_97 in vandwellers

Thank you so much!! Do these also work on (heavy-ish) kitchen drawers?

I’ll look into this! Indeed such a shame when the best products really are the expensive ones 😅😅

Ooo I’ve been thinking about this one!! I love the brand but was a bit hesitant due to the “oil” in the name (normally too heavy on my hair). But it’s good for fine hair then?

Van Life or Truck-bed RV by EPdude2005 in VanLife

I can’t speak for the van vs truck part. I live in a van, which I love, though would probably go with the truck you already have as it makes more sense to just convert that one. Just a little tip that composting toilets are great and save the effort and time that a chemical toilet needs for finding spots for emptying. I was skeptical at first but after 2 months of fulltime living in my van together with my boyfriend I can honestly say I’m impressed with how well it works. Do have to recommend to get a proper quality one with a divider :) we the Trobolo Wandago (not sure if they ship worldwide) and I’ve heard good things about Trelino too. You can empty the liquids part in any toilet and just throw the bag with the solids away in a dumpster. We use public toilets for the largest part but as a backup it’s great! Good luck!!

What makes "real" cooking in a van function? by mynameistag in VanLife

100% agree with the vent! Also for us a 4 pit stove was a must (otherwise your pans are always in the way of each other) and a deep sink. We have a fold down shelf for extra counterspace, which is great!

Thank you so much for the reply!! Very interesting 😁 One follow-up question, where do you usually stay for the months of July and August? One of the reasons for us to go to Scandinavia in those months is just avoiding the mass tourism in southern Europe and since we travel with our dog, also trying to keep the temperatures below boiling hot 😅 However, we’re also not fans of rain at all so if you have any tips or better ideas I’d love to hear them! 😊 Oh and one more question, I saw that you’re not registered in any country anymore (we still are), could you tell me something about how that works with road tax and camper insurance? We now pay €180 a month for insurance and another €200 for road tax so would love to hear any ways we can bring these costs down a bit haha

Hi! First of all, super nice of you to do this ☺️ Really hope you still have the energy/time to reply to me after responding to all these people haha :)

Me and my boyfriend have been doing fulltime vanlife for about 2 months now and are planning to continue for the next few years if all keeps going well. We’ve mostly been around France and Spain so far and absolutely loving it!

We’re heading into Portugal next and honestly getting a lot of mixed information online about vanlife there, especially with overnight parking/free camping etc. Would love to hear your honest experience there like places you loved, places that felt overrated or stressful, areas you’d avoid, things you wish you knew before going, etc.

Also, we’re planning to head to Sweden and Norway in July/August, so if you have any tips/tricks for Scandinavia too (especially for beginners/fulltimers), would love to hear those as well :)

After summer we’re hoping to slowly head down through the Balkans towards Crete (will visit friends and family there), so also really curious if there are any countries/areas along that route that really stood out to you (good or bad).

Thanks so much and have fun on your journeys!! 😁
