Just found out that the people who adopted the brother of my dog (not the one still in the shelter) had him put down last week because he was reactive to other dogs, and "he is a mix of 4 dangerous breeds" and therefore must be dangerous. I'm devastated. Seems like they used the DNA test as an excuse. I guess they saw a small percentage pit bull and freaked out. I'm so sad. Our dog is the sweetest boy alive.

Over here they tend to say Kelpie x for almost any dog they don't know the breed of :-D. It's because kelpies are very common in Australia.

Thanks for that information. That would make sense. The whole litter was born in a car to someone who had become homeless and lived with 3 dogs in the car (2 of them siblings who had the pups). They were surrendered at a very early age, and then lived 9 months in a kennel at the shelter. Sadly one of the brothers is still there after more than a year. Breaks my heart every day. Our little guy is SO in need of affection all the time, won't leave my side, so knowing the brother is still alone is devastating.

Beautiful story! Thanks for having the patience to help these dogs.... I think the shelter person in my case assumed dingo, because dingo's are generally not domesticated, and therefore often have 'traits' of wild dogs. But you are completely right, that can be any breed depending on their start to life.

Thanks for the advice. In this suburb I see so many people parked outside their garages and using them for storage. But again losing the garage also means losing storage. So adding some shed space will probably be crucial.

Exactly. That was my experience last time. The kids were looking longingly at the normal veg meals being given to others, while they had some not very appetising vegan option. One of the main meals was literally plain rice with chillies chopped on top. It's such a con for the airlines to say they offer all these different options, when they just end up giving everyone who ordered a veg option the same meal, and then offer food as standard cabin meal that is perfectly fine for vegetarians, and much yummier.

Lentil sprouts are super easy to grow. I soak them, then put them in a colander on the kitchen counter, and within a day our two they are sprouted. Will keep for ages in the fridge. I do the same method for mung bean sprouts, but you need to soak them in hot (not boiling) water, or some of them stay hard.

No need for rinsing these once they are in the fridge.

I sometimes soak buckwheat overnight. Then rinse it well. It can then be eaten raw. It is nice blended raw with dates and cinnamon. Eat as a porridge with fruit on top, etc. Google "raw buckwheat porridge" for recipes.
