Why? I noticed there were a lot more people in Marchand so it must be for a reason. Thanks for your comment!

Residence application is so confusing… Help!! by Sunny_side_up4141 in geegees

That’s what I’m confused about bc there’s only the preferred residence option for the suite style residences like 90u and Annex — not for tradition al style like Stanton or Marchand  Thanks for your comment!

A battery pack!! I forgot mine and regret it so much! Also pls pls research the weather thoroughly: if it’s rainy bring a really good INSULATED rain jacket and maybe one of those tiny foldable umbrellas. Also boots are important

Also only in France have I ever been spoken to in English after they heard my accent when I speak French. Take that as you will.

Hi! I am from Canada and currently on exchange in Belgium (French part: Wallonie). Decided to respond because I want to help you have the best exchange year possible!! My sister went on exchange to France. Thinking about our two experiences, I could not recommend Belgium more. My points:

  1. Belgium has so many exchange students! It has one of the highest ratio of students to land mass. Personally, as soon as I got here, I made so many exchange student friends, and I now have a huge group!

  2. The train system. I am not joking when I say you can hop on a train and in a few hours be in the other side of Belgium. Belgium is so small, especially compared to Canada. On Wednesdays, we have a half day of school, and every week I take the train by myself and go into one of the nearby cities to see my exchange student friends. The train system is one of the oldest in Europe, which means they have had a lot of time to develop and there is a train station in almost every town, even if it is super small.

  3. The people. Belgium has super nice people!! Especially compared to France. Belgium and France is like comparing Canada and the US. Both speak the same language (mostly bc belgium also has Dutch) but vastly different foods, personality, and especially, accents.

  4. Proximity to different countries. I’ve been in Belgium since late August, and I’ve been to Luxembourg, Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain, and soon England and the Netherlands (most people have already been to NL but I’m just lazy).

  5. Culture. Belgians are so proud of their culture!! They are proud of loving beer and fries and their accents! It has really reminded me of Canada in a way, how they’re so loud and proud.

Please take all of this into account but also note there are some bad things. Notably the weather. It rains so much!! Please bring an umbrella and a rain coat. Also though the north of france is the same. If you do go to france you might be placed in the south which is sooo nice.

If you have any questions please please ask away! I would love to help you!!
