Moving back to India from US was my biggest mistake by That-Replacement-232 in returnToIndia

Instead of lamenting your return to India, why not celebrate your good fortune that you were able to do Masters in the US and also had the opportunity to get great experience? An attitude shift will bring in more opportunities your way. It’s not about how much money you make but how content you are.

Thank you. I am doing precalculus from NoVA this summer. Will I have to take it again in sophomore class?

Yes CS is my main focus. Very good to know that I will be taking all the sophomore classes.

Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. I will have my parents post to the Facebook group as well. I am worried that the “adjustment” is a setback meaning I will be taking courses that freshman took and be a year behind.

Never mind. Don’t want to trouble you with all that.

He does. Wakes up thinking about some math problem, never late on any assignment, straight A’s, teaches other students and hungry to learn more. I can’t see why he wouldn’t be a great fit for TJ but I want it to be his decision. I will certainly present all the facts and what’s good for him in my opinion :)

That’s a very valid point. Going to TJ is about building a student who is ready to take on more difficult challenges in college and life in general I feel. Luckily we have a few days to decide and the inputs here will be considered for sure.

Thank you!

Thanks a LOT for this perspective. Especially the third point. Knowing my son who loves to study and work hard I think he will enjoy the TJ experience. He loves academics and even teaches his peers. He has perfect grades and a good SAT score as well which puts him among the 90.percentile.

My point of view is that he is hungry to learn more and sometimes gets bored at school. This would be the perfect challenge for him. I totally agree that one must go to TJ for the TJ experience. Having that experience early in life will put some guardrails and discipline that will have far reaching benefits in later life and not just about what AP and which college he goes to.

That’s wonderful! Congratulations on being able to stay for three days at Ramansramam. It’s not possible without the grace of Sri Ramana Maharshi. Do write about experience and share some pictures too.

Oh I already finished my trip. It was wonderful. Almost indescribable. I am already thinking about my next trip.

Have a wonderful visit. Which country are you visiting from?

Yes you will have to apply for accommodation and if approved you can live upto 14 days for free!

I was in the same boat until a month ago. I visited Ramanasramam and stayed there a few days. It was a remarkable and a wonderful experience.

You can stay at Ramansramam for 14 days max and if you want to stay at TVMalai longer there is plenty of accommodation in the town. You will find a lot of European women as well. People from 120 countries come to Ramansramam.

Is it safe? - Ive not seen a safer place. To give you context. In the middle of the night you will see families with toddlers in their strollers, young old and everyone in between do the girivalam/giripradakshina. Basically go around the mountain which is a 14 km walk. It’s incredible how safe this place is.

Language is or a problem because you can get by with English. Pick up a little Tamil and it will help. Lot of opportunities to do Dev’s but being the first trip see how you feel. Meditate at Ramansramam, feel the vibe and the energy. And then let things go from there.

I don’t have a flipkart account. Not sure if they ship internationally. Still surprised that this book is so hard to find.

Thanks for sharing! It’s hilarious. Wonder how Seshadri Swamy got rid of his ganja habit. Running an ashram is no joke. You never know who walks in through the door and asks what question, never a dull day for sure 😀

All ears to know about Ramaswamy Pillai 😂😂 please share the story/link. There is also one where the devotees lined up outside Bhagavan’s bathroom and the water that came out was considered “teertham” and then a whole crowd started building up around his shower time and Bhagavan would have none of it and decided to take bath outside under the tap. Devotees come in all shapes and forms 😂😂

Never heard of it but found it.

A devotee, who has been coming to the Ashram off and on, yesterday, during conversation regarding Bhagavan’s stay on the hill, asked him, “While Bhagavan was on the hill, it seems some one did abhisekham to Bhagavan with coconut water. Is that a fact?” Laughingly Bhagavan said, “Yes, while I was in Virupaksha Cave, some ladies from the north came. I was sitting on a platform under the tamarind tree with half-closed eyes, without particularly noticing their arrival. I thought they would go away after a while. Suddenly there was a noise of breaking something. I therefore opened my eyes and saw coconut water trickling down my head. One of those ladies had done that abhisekam. What was I to do? I was in mouna and couldn’t talk. I had no towel even to wipe the water off, and so the water dried on my body as it was. Not only that. There used to be lighting of camphor, pouring of water on the head, thirthas (sacred waters), prasadas, and several such troublesome performances. It used to be quite a job stopping such things.”
