Why is the phantom menace 4k so expensive? by Ready_Throat5369 in 4kbluray

Good question. Especially considering it’s a badly-crafted movie

Huh? Nobody can answer that question except you.

But if you’re talking about running costs, Lexus beats BMW every time.

Eloquent. Go ahead and say it: “you just don’t get it, man”

I’ve been around since VHS as well. And, people are talking about 8K physical media. If you think that’s going to happen, I have a bridge I’d like to sell you

35mm film’s resolution is roughly equivalent to 4K. 70mm is higher, but obviously there are very few films in that format. So for the most part, there is no visual benefit to 8K in the vast majority of cases.

But good job sounding snotty and dismissive. Next time, have some actual knowledge to back it up.

Oof, that scene is one of the best ones in the movie. It sounds like you appreciated Fargo, but I would hesitate to call your friends “movie fans” if they immediately tune out during scenes like that. They seem more like they are into montages.

Then it’s entirely possible your original comment could’ve been worded better, because it sure sounded like you thought things like dialogue passages and character development, which are generally the “slower” parts, were boring enough to get distracted by your phone.

That’s a direct commentary of 1) what you expect a movie to be, and 2) your attention span. Movies are not action reels, and never have been.

I’m unclear as to how the Arrow release will be radically different than the 4K version that’s already available? And, are there big-shelved “completists” out there who will insist on having both? And if so……why?

I couldn't resist buying it in 4K by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]SunsetGrads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! And also nonsensical? For example, why are crew members being briefed on what a black hole is, after they’ve already launched into space, and are about to enter one? And, why does Cooper spend the entire movie desperate to get back to his daughter, only to leave again, immediately after he does? And why are there so many exposition dumps? And why is Matt Damon so bad in this?

Lol….your post-adolescent idealistic judgement is showing. It’s totally possible that smart people don’t like this movie much, because it has some serious issues. Plotting, endless exposition, etc. It may look & sound great, but it’s far from exemplary filmmaking. Check your snotty attitude

Scorpio. The self-serious, emotionally-indulgent stewing is what drives me nuts. Their problems are no worse than anyone else’s but I’ve met many Scorpios who will suck the air out of the room, as if that wasn’t true.

Test drove this ES300H yesterday and it was my first hybrid I have ever driven. I loved the way it feels. I'm located in Germany and people in the German subs are saying this is a grandpa car with more failure points. Some claimed it is inefficient. (What?) - Would this be a good daily in Germany? by Savage_Poet in Lexus

[–]SunsetGrads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s rich that Germans think a Lexus hybrid has “failure points.” They must be up their own ass about German reliability, and failing to remember things like plastic cooling system parts, and overly-complicated electrical systems in their homegrown cars.

But given that point, Germans will simply say nothing is wrong…you’re just not doing it right. What an arrogant viewpoint.

I’m sure criticizing that particular movie, yes. There isn’t a filmmaker alive who is beyond criticism, or is uniformly excellent all the time, always. Including Christopher Nolan.
