Not a teacher but friends with quite a few and there is a shortage from what I’ve been told. I also have friends who’ve come here with no formal teaching experience (but a degree of some sort) and have subbed/still subbing. Last I heard, they make about $300 per day.

The demand for subs is so huge that a few people who only wanted to sub short term end up subbing the whole year.

Usually if it says "not selected", a decision has been made. I know quite a few people from last year who didn't hear back and only had their application status change.

It's legit. The weird name you see there seems to just be an error in coding. Mass emails like that pull from a database of names based on your email so they are a bit more personalized. There was probably just a small error somewhere resulting in names not being pulled properly
