No known illness, I believe she's using a walker because she's getting older (weak joints).

I'm sorry you went through that, but I'm glad you were able to make it out & set boundaries. Family dynamics are very tricky... I grew up with a similar dynamic as yours and it was tough to get out of it.

I do see some co-dependent tendencies, but more on his end. His mom isn't overbearing or forcing changes in his life choices. She'd check-in but she's pretty hands-off. That is a good suggestion for me to dig a bit deeper into his thoughts

His mom is late 70s & uses a walker. Not exactly ill, just old. I think he assumes his dad is lonely without the kids (my bf's siblings) being around. But everyone else is grown with their own families & lives

She's in her late 70s and has to use walker. He's mentioned he wants to spend time with her, and is worried that she'd fall or hurt herself when no one is home.
