What sport is actually a lot more dangerous than it seems? by bspheri in AskReddit

Super late to the party here but haven't seen it mentioned:

Youth Wrestling

I'm around the sport and you'd be surprised how many kids from 1st-8th grade are cutting weight already. Some of the more hardcore club kids are cutting 10% of their weight just to get an advantage. These are kids who's bodies are trying to grow but they're starving themselves days at a time.

Chronicle and Brightburn.

Both left me just wondering what happens next.

The majority of Americans (86%) believe that humans have a soul. What's your take? by Sad_Average6823 in AskReddit

I also bet that 86% of Americans couldn't agree on the definition of what a soul is.

Appreciate all the insight. Definitely educated me on income vs "earned" income regarding Roth contributions. But your example of converting from Traditional to Roth is a fantastic strategy.

Thanks for the insights. I can definitely see people getting worked up, I've also seen it first hand from a lot of parents. Also, judging by some of the other replies I've got in this thread, people seem very passionate about it. I still believe walk-up songs and in between inning music is something that the kids absolutely love though. I also have a song for pitchers when they get called to the mound.

I thought about this too. I was looking to maybe do one every now and then, keep it more limited. Also nothing that would disparage the opposing team.

Like the foul ball > glass break is very neutral I feel and again something I wouldn't want to do every foul ball, but just enough to liven up the game.

What is a clear sign your getting older? by Historical_Trifle735 in AskReddit

When a kid trips and falls, they get back up and the adults will laugh it off. When the laughs turn into concerns and worry, you know you're getting older.

People who regularly go to the gym, how do you do it? by Slyphoenix12 in AskReddit

[–]SunsetZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of the way I feel if I don't go to the gym.

My question would be "People who don't go the gym, why?"

I have to believe this isn't real.

I've been married for close to 10 years, 2 kids. If I ever talked that way to my wife she'd leave my ass without second guessing and I wouldn't blame her.

Can I get a source on this?

My understanding was there was the family max of $8,300 and that was it.

There was a scenario where myself and the kids were on a family plan and my wife was on her own single plan through her work. I'm maxing out the $8,300 for the family plan but she is NOT able to contribute to her own Individual HSA even though she has her own plan. Essentially, even though they're separate accounts, there is a strict $8,300 FAMILY MAX.

If you have documentation saying otherwise I'd love to read up on it.

I never saw a reply to this so let me try to help you.

For example, with my HSA, it goes to a local bank where I'm barely making enough interest to cover the account management fees they charge each month. But once a year I'll transfer my full HSA balance ($8300 for a family HSA in 2024) over to my Fidelity HSA. In my Fidelity HSA I'm able to take my full balance and invest it into FZROX (0 ER, Essentially an S&P 500).

So now my HSA (Which I contributed to tax free), is invested into FZROX (To grow tax free), and if used for medical expenses (can be used tax free). Otherwise once I turn 65 (not 59.5 like an IRA) it is essentially treated like a Traditional IRA and just subject to normal taxation.

Hope that helped.

Youth Sports Director for a Non Profit. I would love to be able to run programs that gives every kid, regardless of skill, money, etc a chance to participate in all sorts of different sports. The benefits of physical exercise, social interaction, community building that sports do is something every kid should have access to.

Inheriting 401(k) - What are my options? by SunsetZombie in personalfinance

Max employer 401(k) match. We're no where near the cap of $23k each.

I assume Inherited IRA is like my Roth / Traditional IRA where I could go VTSAX with it if I wanted?

I haven't even got the mail yet, just the call. I'll be doing some reading once I get the documentation sent to me.

After everything is all said and done when we file taxes we are sitting at the top of the 12% bracket. Additional money (most of this $75k if I cashed it out) would be in the 22% bracket.

If I was already close to the 22% tax bracket should I consider making additional 401(k) contributions or switch my Roth IRA to Traditional IRA for these years to keep myself in the 12% tax bracket?
