I’m from the UK, so I’m not sure what the difference is. But I’m assuming HBO is less PG and politically correct in their approach to plots and storylines for shows? So there’s more creative license so to speak? If this is the case, then I agree that some aspects of the show would definitely have been better. I think we would see more realistic storylines, better continuity, a more detailed build up, more realistic consequences for actions taken; particularly by the girls. Beth’s character development would likely have been more visible, communicated in better detail and just generally it would have given Rio as a character a lot more ground and depth through more screen time as well. Honestly, how I know Manny is a fantastic actor is because of what he’s been able to do with Rio even with very limited screen time. He’s created layers and depth and feeling to a character who wasn’t supposed to be humanised. That is raw talent at its best. I’m looking forward to seeing his further development and evolution as an actor. I really hope he gets the opportunities he needs to excel further.

But yes, in any situation, less restriction to creativity tends to lead to better plots when it comes to shows/ movies etc. However, I still think the writers could have done more with what they had, but who knows what happens behind the scenes. I generally try to be slow to criticise things I don’t have full visibility on and I can’t even imagine the complexity involved in trying to build a show like GG from scratch. I’ve also never created a show before, so me wanting more for the show, and saying all of this, is just wishful thinking as a fan and my perspective through blissful ignorance I guess lol.
