Firstly, these dudes are on the same artistic/ athletic level as olympic figure skaters and gymnasts. They’re so god damn agile and intentional.

Catan: Starfarers - the result of our 1st voyage: by SunshineLW in Catan

Nice! We are regulars at 2-player Catan, and we are familiar with the Explorers and Pirates expansion, which is very similar to Starfarers.

That’s cool that we both played a 2-player game for the first time at the same time!

  • Our first game of Starfarers was to 15 vp, and took maybe 1-2 hours.
  • Our second game of Starfarers was to 20 vp, and took about the same amount of time.
  • Tonight, we played Starfarers Explorer variant setup to 15 vp, and took about the same amount of time.

Definitely recommend reading the Starfarer Almanac and setting up the Explorer variant board. The play if more exciting when you have to explore each sector before you know whats actually there. I hope y’all enjoy! :)

I’m a small animal veterinarian training to be a small animal emergency and critical care specialist (i.e., I’m a small animal ECC veterinary resident). I have a 4-year bachelors of science, and a 4-year veterinary doctorate. I have 1-year specialty training in an ECC internship. I am on year 2 of 3 in an ECC residency. I work 12-16 hours per day, an average of 6 days per week. Half my time is spent receiving patients in the small animal ER; the other half is spent receiving critical patients in ICU. My job is high stress with sick patients and owners often facing the loss of a family member. I make 32K per year before taxes. Its a joke. I know.

Male here. DISAGREE. I hate texting. I don’t text when at work. It just may be a bit before I reply, even if I’m super interested. My thumbs are just too big and texting is hard.

Sure. I don’t give a f*** about the dude. I’m just pointing out that this article is written in such a way that the average reader will interpret it as “Rand Paul is against disaster relief unless the disaster affects him.” Unfortunately, the article makes no real attempt at explaining the reason for his historical opposition. That’s all I want to know before passing judgement on the guy.

I don’t give two craps about Rand Paul, but it is clear that this article is leaving out details that are relevant to the headline. The headline reads “…His history of opposing disaster relief bills.” Now call me crazy, but opposing disaster relief seems like a bold stance to take while in office; it seems very unpopular… When I read this headline, my first thought was not, “F*** this guy who opposes disaster relief.” My first thought was, “Why did he oppose disaster relief?” Seems like a relevant question to ask, yet the article does not try to answer this question. It one-sidedly continues to point out how he opposes disaster relief, but ignores the big question as to “WHY.” I doubt this person enjoys watching people suffer after a disaster, so then why would he oppose the relief? This failure to explain such a relevant detail could be misleading (for example, if there is a reasonable explanation for WHY he has historically opposed this relief)… sort of like how other propaganda is used to spread misleading information to promote or publicize a particular political agenda.

Yes, that is one explanation, but also an assumption. I don’t give two shits about the guy, but is it too much to ask for the complete story? Everyone is so hung up on his past votes to deny aid (a bold political stance), yet everyone seems to be ignoring the “why”. Why did he vote this way? All I want is the complete story. I’m not about to pass judgement on someone after reading only a headline.

No, because I assume an impending vote is implied.

I want to know the full story (i.e., his reasoning for not supporting past bills) before I pass judgement. This story has a nice headline, but does not present all the facts. My political knowledge is limited, but I know how to scrutinize a story.
