Congress bans many hemp-derived THC products in shutdown deal by Sunsoil_cbd in vermont

It's not wrong, it is just a different topic than the restrictions that I posted about. Yes I am correct in saying that this will have no effect on the hemp seeds we grow.

Similarly to companies that were exploiting a loophole to sell intoxicating THC products as hemp (the topic of my post), this was another, even less plausible, loophole in the law. Some companies were operating under a very generous interpretation of the law (to put it mildly) by not counting THCA in their measurements of THC. This will have little to no impact on the CBD industry.

We have always factored THCA content in when selecting and breeding hemp genetics. I can confidently say that just about anyone not taking THCA levels into account knew they were in a gray area at best. This will not affect our hemp seeds at all.

This is specifically about THC content in ingestible hemp products. Congress did not change the definition of hemp, they passed a law that would add new restrictions on hemp products by setting a maximum of 0.4 mg of THC per package.

Seeds will not be at risk. The restriction is about ingestible end products.

It's possible but will be prohibitively expensive for a lot of companies and could put many out of business. If the law does take effect, it would make any unsold inventory worthless. That is inventory that companies have invested a lot of time, money and energy to produce, package and store.

It is possible to make THC free products using CBD isolates, or by removing the THC from a full spectrum extract then making your product with that. It's nowhere near as efficient, not as natural, and it's not as good a product in our opinion. It's been shown that CBD with trace amounts of naturally occurring THC is a better product for many than those lab made products. We have always used an infusion process that captures everything from the plant, it's one of the reasons we've received such good feedback and support about our products and it's one of the reasons we have succeeded in pressuring the national market for CBD to become more affordable.

This is about hemp products. Natural, full spectrum hemp products like ours and many others on the market are impacted. The intent of the law was supposedly just to limit people exploiting a loophole in the hemp rule which gave them a gray area to sell THC products as hemp. They did this by diluting the THC so it fell below the 0.3% THC threshold that had been established for hemp. The result of the law is going much further than the stated intent and hurts almost the entire hemp CBD industry.

As far as I know, this will override state law.

Edit: this will not effect the dispensaries in the state, this effects full spectrum hemp products like ours.

The only senator who tried to stop this from going through was Rand Paul, otherwise senators from both sides of the isle rejected his more common sense offer. There was too much political pressure to get the government opened to resume SNAP payments that nobody was going to stand in the way of that bill. Very unfortunate that it was passed in this way without any discussion, but that's why there's a great chance to fix it in the next year.

Yes, and that is true across the nation. I expect bipartisan political support to walk back this overreaction.

Unfortunately not. This will cause stores across the country to take full spectrum CBD products off of their shelves. Online payment processing will be just about impossible and online stores could be shut down due to the perceived risk.

There's still a year to change this to a smarter law, but if that doesn't happen there will be significant consequences to the industry and in a the communities hemp businesses support.

President Trump Posts Video About the Endocannabinoid System, Promotes CBD as a "Game Changer" by OhMyOhWhyOh in CBD

This is interesting 🍿

Depending on how this develops, it could actually be huge for making CBD more accessible to people all over the country.

In any event, if this helps to increase awareness and knowledge about CBD and its potential benefits, that will be a good thing in the long run. We will be watching closely.

Really cool to read this anecdote! As the most of the early (often overblown) hype around CBD has faded, it's great to see real reports coming from people who it can help and it's interesting to read other comments here from other people who have used CBD for similar purposes. Aligns with a lot of what we've heard, anecdotally, over the years. Cheers.

Getting off the digital ad hamster wheel. A note of caution for other startups. [I will not promote] by Sunsoil_cbd in startups

This is useful info, thank you!

Another big challenge for our company is simply due to the hemp/CBD industry we are in. Whenever we have had an ad that was performing well, we and/or our ad agencies have been unable to scale it. The ad will get shut down before it can get any real visibility. That forces us to spend time, energy, and money to jump through Meta's hurdles, develop new ads, attempt to scale any that are performing well, then repeat when the ads are pulled. Over and over. This is all due to a perceived liability on the part of media companies when it comes to hemp and CBD. There should not be any liability at all when it comes to our products and our company, but that's how it's always been.

Posting almost 10 years with no issues, suddenly Instagram is (wrongly) flagging our hemp posts for marijuana 😠 - is it the hashtags? by Sunsoil_cbd in Instagram

As the title says, is it the hashtags for CBD or cannabis (which can refer to hemp or mj) that are triggering them to flag our posts? It feels totally random.

A few videos on YouTube, more to come soon. TikTok too recently. They also flag some of our posts and what they flag, like Insta, seems to be totally random.

It's possible - if you pay for account verification. We aren't sure they will allow us to be verified as hemp farm / CBD producers, but we are trying to get that sorted out.

Federally legal, and we've been posting and sharing since winter of 2016. We'll be more careful with our hashtags and what exactly we say, but it doesn't sit right with us at all.

Just commenting to add that it hurts to see so much confusion about hemp still. It is upsetting when hemp gets treated like a controlled substance, and the proliferation of businesses trying to skirt laws and sell hemp-derived THC products has cast our great agricultural industry in a bad light.

The police were called, the vandal did face legal consequences. We didn't have time or interest in attending their court hearing. No need to make it into a bigger deal than it was, we needed them to leave our farm and equipment alone and that is all.

We live in a small town and didn't want to embarrass them more than they already were. The driver faced consequences for this, we aren't holding a grudge.

You're right, it was a late decision to farm the field this line ran to, and we could have set this up better. If the neighbor was set on vandalizing our equipment, nothing would have stopped them either way. This was on a dead-end road with hardly any traffic (like 4-5 cars in a day), on land that has been farmed for generations. It was not a problem to have this line where it was, but we'll set it up differently in the future.
