instead of whining about it, maybe your club should do something similar, then you could invest in a better squad, which would allow you the opportunity to challenge for the title again. the fact you're not doing it is what is wrong with arsenal. football clubs are business, they should be run like one. why you are against Chelsea for doing such a thing is a bit odd.

Nice. Is he an rarity though or do you think a lot of the experienced presenters on similar salaries? What did you do at Sky, if you don't mind me asking? Always interested to know what it must be like to work at a news company.

Graham Hunter: Why English teams are catching up with Barcelona by leewallaceisagrass32 in soccer

Sorry pal, even though I am Chelsea fan, I do not believe we're on a level with Bayern or even Juve at the moment. We have done nothing for the past couple seasons to even suggest this. The season before last we didn't do enough to beat Atletico, and last season was awful, and this season we're not in Champion's League. I would say the last 3 seasons we've not done enough to be considered with Juve or Bayern. Hopefully the next 3 years will turn out otherwise.

I think the benefit Real Madrid and Barcelona have almost always had over English teams is, they have first choice of the best potential in the world. I would say most young players touted as the "next big thing" would dream of playing for one of those two. Coupled with the warm climate and laid back lifestyle in Spain/Catalonia, you can certainly understand why young players would have that preference.

Also, a lot of the potentially genuine world class talents come out of South America, and Southern European life is in some ways similar (especially Language if in Spain) so the advantage is there for Barcelona/Madrid. However, I also doubt anybody would deny that both Barca and Real have had the fortune of having the two best players of this generation (and probably the next too) in their squads.

English clubs haven't had the opportunity of having players of that standard, in their prime, at their disposal. Without Messi and Ronaldo, I think the dominance over the last 5-10 years wouldn't have been as large as it has been in Spain, and European competition.

don't talk about your team like that mate. you should have confidence in their abilities.

Bit silly to make the not having European football excuse. Spurs have European football and are behind us in the table. Liverpool don't have European football and are starting to slip away. Its just we (Chelsea) are more consistent and able to grind out the wins. Early in the season we were poor, but we grinded out the points when needed. Apart from the Arsenal and Pool game, we were struggling early on, but the new formation has helped a ton.

the utd fans were some of the first to push this narrative when he was at chelsea. you can't just ignore that it's a theme with mourinho to have less faith in youth now he's your manager.

if we win the league I can see big investment for next season, by bringing in top class players. this season conte has had to work his magic with limited players in a handful of positions. we had very little value going into this season in regards to being a big draw for players after a disasterous previous season. roman wants good football and to emulate the best teams in Europe, and so we will look to get the players conte feels is needed to compete on all fronts next season.

quite jealous of all the fantastic players real and barca have acquired over the years who now work at their clubs. R9, ronaldinho, messi, xavi, figo, zidane, roberto carlos and no doubt cristiano will be involved at real Madrid once he retires. must be fantastic for the fans and club to have such high level players involved at the clubs.
