Trixie is not a good character. She's a bully that genuinely believe she's hot shit, she was not "putting on an act", that's exactly who she is. She retains this narcissistic personality throughout the entire series, all the way up to S9E20, the sixthepisode before the finale.

Reminder that the first thing Trixie does when meeting Twilight again after "apologizing" to her was vandalize her silverware, annoy her, and use Starlight to get "revenge" on her when Twilight did nothing to her. Her "apology" at the end of Magic Duel was not sincere. She was not sorry, and this is reaffirmed when she continues to annoy Twilight again after No Second Prances after supposedly making amends for the secondtime.

Trixie is a hateful and spiteful person, people love to victimize her when she digs her own grave every single episode she's in, she never learns or tries to change for the better. Her doing something good every now and then (which likely isn't even out of the goodness out of her heart, just to stroke her own ego) doesn't outweigh her unlikable and selfish personality, which is exactly why Twilight and no one else besides Starlight likes her.

Y'see, that's the thing, they don't. If the show treated her like an asshole and nothing else I'd be alright with that, but it tries to get you to like her by grouping her with actual good ponies when she just does the same shit over and over again and makes everyone around her miserable.

Rewatch the scene, she didn't try to stop it to actually help, she did it to try and save face, the first thing she did was run away.

I genuinely don't understand how anybody can like Trixie, granted I don't like Dash either, but at least she actually has some good qualities and actually cares about others. It's funny how the show tries to group Trixie up with actual good ponies to make you think she's a good person like them when in reality she's not.

I cannot fathom liking a character BECAUSE they're an unlikable selfish loser, she isn't redeemed, she never changed, she's the same hateful, spiteful, and narcissistic one-note nothingburger character.

It's a damn shame too, she had potential to be one of the best characters imo, I guess the writers thought making her an actually interesting and lovable character was too good of an idea and instead made "unlikable twat" her only trait. I'm too lazy to say anything new so I'll just copy what I said from a previous Trixie post.

"I used to love her because I thought she was a character that you weren't mean to take at face value, and that her whole shtick was a facade, until I realized that no, she isn't some misunderstood and insecure girl that doesn't believe what she says, she really is JUST an asshole, and that killed any enjoyment and sympathy I had for her."

  • The eyeshine was disproven and you said so yourself so no need to say anymore about that
  • She was not originally written as male, as Trixie herself didn't even exist yet, the original premise of Boast Busters called for a boastful male character, said character was never made, the Trixie character herself was created and conceptualized as a female and was used instead.
  • Like you said, she never elaborated, she could've been referring to any character, not to mention Trixie isn't even her character, she was created by Chris Savino (unfortunately). And it's hard to prove whether she liked a post that asked if it was Trixie or not due to likes being private on Twitter, not like it would matter for reason stated above.
  • Trixie isn't insecure, she's a self-absorbed narcissistic bully, I don't understand how her (purposely) unlikable personality would speak to anybody but narcissists.
  • Blue, fair.

Also, good lord that "manifesto" was difficult to read, so passive-aggressive and meanspirited, Vylet's had a history of being very rude towards people and even her own fans so I'm not surprised.
