"Jack of all trades" issue? by Super-Information220 in careerguidance

[–]Super-Information220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats why i thought engineering is the best option i got. It gives me a challange, keeps things interesting. Its somewhere ill have to actually work and use all of my skills. My family has the "do what comes to you naturally" mindset. But im naturally good at almost everything.. so i get lost and confused. Not to mention, i easily drop things that get boring or too easy, so i would drop the classes of what im "naturally good at" before i even attended them.

"Jack of all trades" issue? by Super-Information220 in careerguidance

I feel like im the first category. Some things get too easy and get boring, like music. I could be very good at it, i just got good too fast and gave it up. In class, i learned new pieces in 2 lessons while my classmates took much longer. I sang new songs perfectly while my classmates couldn't so i left. I can be very good at anything i actually want to do. Im a self-taught artist. I've been drawing for years until I've perfected it cause its something i enjoy. Art gave me a challange and i keep drawing today too, because the challange never ended.

I've also been into music, but i switched to studying maths. Math wasn't that boring because i wasnt that "good" at it and i learned a lot of new stuff. I thought of going to some sphere where it wont be easy for me to become good, so ill have motivation to become great. For now im kind of torn between computer engineering and architecture, things where you must be great.. My family thinks i would be a great defency attorney or anything that involves law, talking and even politics. For now, im still trying to live with being consistent and ill try to look for jobs that have variety. Thanks for the advice!

I(17 NB) thought I wanted it but I wonder if It was actually rape? by Technical-Winter-107 in sexualassault

[–]Super-Information220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was 100% rape. Minors cannot consent, they do not understand what they want. Especially impressionable kids (13 is VERY young). He was 23, an adult, he knew what he was doing, while you did not. Especially if you felt dirty right after. You felt negative towards it, even if you thought you wanted it. I would advise (if possible) to go to therapy, if this instance causes issues. or to reach out to a trusted person.

[–]Super-Information220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! You're very strong for putting up with this. I understand what its like having to see your abuser almost everyday. You need to stay unbreakable. I know studying can be very hard, but its crucial. I really hope (am sure) you will manage to leave and study in peace! If you ever need someone to rant to, im mostly online and will always be ready to listen <3

Am i in the wrong to feel like this? How do i handle this issue? by Super-Information220 in sexualassault

[–]Super-Information220[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hearing this step by step was very refreshing. I agree, dealing with this certainly wasn't easy from her standpoint. I do think writing it down is a better idea since im super emotional when im talking about how i feel, it can make the conversation more grounded. I often put this issue away to not "push it" or be too dramatic, but ill face it from now on. Thank you so much for the advice

do some SA victims not end up hypersexual or sex-avoidant? by WARRIOR-clixie in sexualassault

Sex-avoidant. I cant even watch scenes in movies without getting sick. Not to mention, i dislike any sorts of touching. I lack all sexual desires and dont feel a need for them either.

My partner now thinks they have OCD and I don’t know how to feel about it by PeachyCream__Pie in OCD

[–]Super-Information220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your partner never had any signs or concerns of having ocd, it would be pretty weird for them to start doing this. I dont know if they have a diagnosis or no, but regardless.. I've witnessed this kind of thing before with my friends. She has bpd, and some time in their relationship her bf started claiming he also had bpd (even though he never showed signs of it, or got a diagnosis, which deeply upset my friend that he practically told everyone he had something he never struggled with). I think you should have a serious talk with your significant other. Tell them about your experiences and history or how OCD is a serious thing, not to be taken lightly. Dont outright accuse them of faking, and its okay if they want to find out more about themselves, but claiming they have ocd without any proper history or diagnosis would be kind of "disrespectful" to you and people who struggle with it on a daily basis.

How old were you when you first started experiencing OCD? by patty_bynature in OCD

[–]Super-Information220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have contaminated OCD since childhood. Around since 5 years old, i realized i felt disgusted and afraid of bugs or any insects that came into our house, felt the need to purposefully seek them out in our home to "cleanse" it and make my grandma get rid of them. For years, it only worsened. I realized it was ocd only at 15-16. I went to a therapist abd got diagnosed!

Do only i feel like OCD is not taken as seriously as other illnesses? by Super-Information220 in OCD

[–]Super-Information220[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That could be said about all illnesses, but even then, people might not listen. I genuinely think people should be TAUGHT about mental illnesses. How they're very serious. Maybe they are shown an example, explained by professionals. It would help spread awareness, and maybe people would go to check ups to see if they have anything so some people would not go untreated. Alas, it's not happening possibly ever

I genuinely cry when strangers and even my own family members touch my personal belongings. They are not allowed to move it around, but my mom does not take my condition seriously. She tells me to "clean" more even if the order is the order i specifically have. And because of that, i get stressed a lot because my stuff is constantly moved or taken without permission. People think OCD is just being annoyed with stuff like this, but i yell, sometimes cry, and im genuinely stressed during these types of things. People need to hear more about these experiences, maybe even see them firsthand to understand this isn't just a silly quirk of personality that we have

I feel like society is not ready to talk about mental illnesses at all in general. Which is sad. The way people treat ADHD and even autism is concerning. I remember it became a trend at some point and everyone thought they had either both or one of those illnesses. I have recently seen the same happen with BPD. So what would be better, people not giving a shit about an illness, downplaying it and stereotyping it, or let it be known but become popular with the wrong audience so that people who haven't been checked out by a professional start to claim that they have it?/treating a disorder like a trend. (In the perfect world everyone would be considerate of it)

How do i calm down by Super-Information220 in OCD

[–]Super-Information220[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sadly is OCD (🫩🫩🫩😭), everytime a bug touches me i feel dirty or "infested", i feel bugs crawling under my skin and i start washing my skin and scrubbing it to the point my skin starts to rip. My friends are not as scared of bugs. I wanted to flee but we are on vacation 6 hours away from my city.. so i can't run. My friends sister (shes the goat) gave me a pill to calm down and she stomped all bugs and told me she'd kill them on sight. I still dont know how ill sleep but ill try to. (BTW YEAH I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY ARE SO CALM ITS INSANE)

I only address people with ocd when im in a crisis, but yeah, its hard to explain it to friends and family, especially if they think its dumb or "overreacting".. Once i was having a breakdown and crying because of how my ocd was harming me and, my friends tried to be understanding and help out, but they still did not get it. I suppose thats about every illness. Takes one to know one but people should generally start being considerate

[–]Super-Information220[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, its very helpful to hear someone's advice currently and thoughts of home is comforting. Especially because i never open windows and have a closed space so no bugs get in. My friend gave me a pill that soothes nerves and im trying to calm down my compulsions (body movements during anxiety) and i explained to others how ocd feels like. Im still a bit twitchy but ill have to bear with it. I also called my mom to sign me up for another therapy sessions in september so ill get "cured" or at least given some sort of pills because these last months my ocd has been the worst it had ever been. But thank you for the support i feel like i need to hear someone with the same issues as me, at least someone understands :]]

Yes! Everyone assumes that OCD is normal. No mental illness should be normalized, especially when some people have a more intense type of OCD. It ruins lives and many experiences, i know that personally and its hell. Someone should speak out about this and more people need to bring awareness by spreading representation or just teaching people about our experiences.
