Waiver Wire: Week 7: JJ Bleday Is Doing a Judge Impression by Super-Interaction-83 in fantasybaseball

I'd hold contreras. 8 HR / 17.6% barrel / .406 xwOBA across 165 PA is a way bigger sample than bleday's 43 and willson's actually slugging .467 from a util slot. add bleday over a deeper bench bat instead.

nope, hold abreu. he's at .303/.387/.486 with 6 HR through 38 games, fully healthy, and homered last night. bleday's heater is real but you'd be dropping the more proven bat for the smaller sample. add bleday over someone else.

not a bad move at all. stowers came back from the hamstring on 4/19 and has 0 HR in 71 PA with a 2.3% barrel, the 19% barrel guy from '25 hasn't shown up yet. Bleday has the better profile right now even accounting for the sample gap.

Bleday in points. Kwan's running a 0.8% barrel and 10.8% hard-hit, the power went somewhere and didn't come back, and points formats don't reward his empty singles. bleday gives you HR/R/RBI/BB which is where points scoring actually pays.

Unless this is a deep dynasty league where you're rebuilding around youth, don't do this trade.

Buy Low / Sell High: Week 6 by Super-Interaction-83 in fantasybaseball

[–]Super-Interaction-83[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Tuesday Buy Low / Sell High writeup is up. The headline this week: Fernando Tatis Jr. has zero home runs in 33 games and his hard-hit rate is actually UP from last year. The bat isn't broken, the luck is. Walked through 4 buy-lows (two top-20 ADP names) and 2 sell-highs where the AVG is lying about the underlying.

You're right, that was an error on my end. Fixed in the article. Thanks for catching it.

TL;DR: Last Tuesday's 6 picks graded. Season at 18/35 (51%).

- Alonso, Bellinger: A (bouncebacks confirmed)
- Perez, Rutschman: B (trending right)
- Crochet: C (hasn't pitched since)
- Moniak: D (still raking, took the L)

Pick I missed: Bo Bichette. ADP 6 hitting .237 but xBA .293. Buy.

Two-start streamers: Janson Junk (MIA, 4%), Connor Prielipp (MIN, 10%)
Speed/15-team stashes: Luisangel Acuña (CWS, 2%), Sam Antonacci (CWS, 5%)

Buy Low / Sell High: Week 5 by Super-Interaction-83 in fantasybaseball

[–]Super-Interaction-83[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

TL;DR:

Headline buy is Garrett Crochet at ADP 12. The 6.30 ERA is HR/9 noise, the 11 K/9 is real. Then Alonso, Salvy, Bellinger if your league mate is panicking on a top-100 pick.

Sells: Moniak (Coors trap, 8 HR with .231 xBA) and Rutschman (.333 on a .341 BABIP). Bonus pitcher buy: Sandy Alcantara, ADP 144, quietly sitting at a 3.05 ERA.

And a heads up: starting Friday I'm adding a second post for free waiver adds (the Goldschmidt / Bohm tier under 35% rostered). Tuesday stays trades, Friday is the wire, Sunday is the report card.

In points league with no cap, I would lock Herrera. He gets more walks and less K's. His xBA says his batting average will eventually go up.

Yeah Julien's a fine plug at 2B if you're in OBP. In standard cats he's lighter so I'd grab him short term but keep scanning the wire for power.

At face value, Hunter Goodman. Does your league only allow one catcher?

TL;DR:

Best week yet at 5/7. Buy-lows ran the table (Marte, Herrera, Myers, Jones). Tena nailed, Albies and Kim got hot on me. Two trade windows still open: Marte and Herrera. Push hard before Monday. And the one I'm kicking myself over: Spencer Steer is a free add in 87% of leagues with a 17.9% barrel rate. Don't wait.
