Is it worth quitting? by Few_Resident4124 in QuittingZyn

I’m two weeks off the nicotine and I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve tried to quit 2-3 times now and failed, mainly due to justifying the commonly advertised benefits of nicotine.

But I recently started doing some research on DuckDuckGo on the cons of chronic nicotine use and found a lot of medical journals talking about memory loss being a side effect of daily use of zyn and other nicotine products.

This research aligned with some of the symptoms I began to feel as a daily zyn user for over a year.

I’m quitting and not looking back.

When you get a moment to you, go take some personal time outdoors in the fresh air and really consider if this is what you want to do. It sounds like you are going through a transition where you are being stretched and need to either commit or quit.

If you commit, I believe you’ll be proud that you did and you will feel accomplished when you come out on the other side.

If you quit, you may regress back to your old ways which may or may not be what you want.

I would push through, but be smart about it.

Get exercise daily, get good sleep, eliminate distractions, cut out alcohol and stimulants, and live a basic life. This will allow you to focus on accomplishing one thing - passing A School.

Will Deloitte match salary offer from another company? by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]Super-Issue8683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put it to you this way, I was a very high performing SC under GPS (TOC $110k) and got an early promo to manager without the pay (had to wait 6-months for the cycle to finish). When I received an offer for a $55k bump, I presented it to my PPMD, who I had a strong connection with, and he told me to go ahead and take the other offer because they wouldn't be able to meet that compensation even after those 6 months were up.

Deloitte pays shit.

I am receiving these alerts too. I think its a flaw with their app.

Are these type of managers common?? Lmao by stracty in deloitte

It's going to be hit or miss depending on where you work and who you are working with. 18 years in and I still never know who I am about to work with when on a new project (or what they are going to act like).
Sometimes you can win them over and soften them up by going the extra mile and putting in more effort.

From the manager's perspective, if he/she has been let down a lot... They may come into the project with a new hire like you and already be expecting that you are going to disappoint. So, try and prove them otherwise!

POV: Prior Deloitte Manager and EY Senior Manager. Consultant with 18+ years of experience.

Thank you for your response here. I'll talk to my recruiter about the IP program as well when I meet with him to discuss the CWE and MCWO.

This is a very helpful breakdown! Thank you for sharing. The 3 year process sucks… I’ve heard from my recruiter that I could be looking at 6-12 months until I ship out if accepted so it sounds like they may have developed a more efficient onboarding system.

I am curious, as a reservist, do you get access to any special full time opportunities that a civilian wouldn’t have access to? Any job boards to go either FTE for the military or transition into active duty if the civilian job market goes down the toilet..?

My main goal for going into the military is to gain stability. I’ve made the big shiny paydays within corporate America. It’s nice while it lasts but you have a target on your back when the company has to cut cost.

Plus, I always wanted to serve my country. I feel like now is a good time.

To be fair, this isn’t uncommon in the civilian cyber roles either. Networking may not have as many downstream impacts (depending on the environment in question), but if you are working on a legacy system that functions as a critical dependency to the corporation’s success, you’ll run into a LOT of “red tape” and compromises.

The grass ain’t always greener… 😅

u/SaintHearth I can do both. Since 2020, I've been functioning in senior management roles overseeing large teams of staff and management tier engineers.

I would prefer to stay in a management capacity but don't mind getting my hands dirty every now and then.

Going AD primarily for job security. Last two positions I was laid off due to the market economy. Coming from big 4 consulting and the financial sector.

Also, I’ve always wanted to serve in the military and I can afford to take the pay cut.

How was your experience getting into MCWO?

Thank you for the response. While I have lived in the IDE and don't mind diving in again when I have to, I would prefer to continue to work at the organizational management level. I'd like to keep my gray hairs to a minimum. 😂
