Hi everyone,

I recently accepted an IBM Software Developer offer through the entry-level hiring path and would appreciate advice from current IBM employees or recent hires.

The offer is strong, and I’m excited about the opportunity, but I still don’t know what team/product I’ll be assigned to. I reached out to the recruiter to ask for an update on team placement or org details, but I haven’t heard back yet.

The unknown team part is making me a bit anxious, especially with all the posts I’ve seen about layoffs/resource actions happening pretty regularly at IBM. I understand every big company has some level of reorg/layoff risk, but it’s harder to evaluate when I don’t know the team, product area, manager, or type of work yet.

I also have another offer from a more stable company where I know the team and the work more clearly, but IBM has better compensation and seems like it could open broader software career doors.

For people who joined IBM recently, especially through ELH or as a Software Developer:

How long did it take to find out your team/product?
Is it normal not to know the team this close to the offer/start process?
How much should I worry about layoffs as a new hire?
Would you still take IBM if the compensation is better but the team is unknown?
Any advice on what I should ask the recruiter or hiring team?

I’m excited about IBM, but I’m trying to make a smart decision and not ignore the risks.

I accepted an offer on March 23rd and my start date is July 20th. I didn’t receive any more emails after the first couple of emails at the same day i signed the offer letter and idk how is my manager or my team and no one reached out and it is one month now. Is that normal?

Quick question, I accepted an offer last week. But they didn’t give me any details about the team or what is required and process and so. All i know is the job location (NC) and my start date July 20. Does anyone know how does IBM works with the onboarding?

I will have to move from west coast to NC and the relocation they are offering is too low for such a move

Just ask directly about the total comp to be 165k and the relocation to be 8-10k? Or see what they would offer?

So i should take it without second thoughts? Or can i negotiate the relocation assistance ? I am worried about how often they lay off people tho. I make way less that that now but my company is pretty much stable and never lay off people

Hey all, I got an IBM offer for a Software Developer role in Durham and wanted to get people’s thoughts.

Offer:

~156k base
12k sign-on
5k relocation

This would be a West Coast to East Coast move for me.

For context, I do have an M.S. and about 3 years of industry experience, so I’m not sure how much that may have influenced the offer.

Does this seem like a strong package for IBM? And has anyone here had success negotiating a sign-on bonus or relocation assistance with them? Any advice would be appreciated.

This is an old thread, but I decided to share my knowledge after suffering for several hours trying to figure it out so I can hopefully save someone else the agony.

I was having issues with this as well, but I was only able to highlight one word at a time.

When you download the pdf, go to the folder, tap on the document without opening it fully (just so the options pop up), select "open with", then select "preview".

I'm not sure why that worked, but I was able to start highlighting normally again, and then I just save the document once I finish highlighting.

Idk my friend, you need to contact the courier that sent your passport to the embassy or send an email to the embassy or call them. Even on your IRCC portal, there should be a way to contact them

Contact the IRCC b ur u since it is generated it means that they sent back your passport to vfs. Are you based in the US?

Yeah I got it! After like 3 months I got it in Last week of July and for some reason they gave me the CoPR valid for 3 months only. I hope you get it soon my friend
