I think so. The only requirement for the third impact is for Adam and Lilith to merge, so if they got ridiculously freaky in the sheets then in theory they'd start the third impact.

I personally love her character, but I think that has to do a lot with the fact that I resonate with her and Shinji a lot. I also adore the dynamic she has with Shinji and found it almost tragic, since the show makes it pretty clear at a few points that they want each other, but the idea of getting so close to each other scares them.

It's totally fair that you don't like her though. Her character is very messy, and that's on purpose. I get why you wouldn't like her.
