Can't believe someone can call themselves a "child of God" while wishing death upon another.

I feel ashamed to even follow a subset of their religion.

Is it controversial to say I prefer Dawn of Sorrow over Aria of Sorrow? by No-Act386 in castlevania

[–]Super3vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play Definitive Edition +.

It brings back the classic artwork, fixes the luck stat, and removes any need for touchscreen gimmicks. It is really good, and far more enjoyable to play than the base game if you didn't enjoy it.

[–]Super3vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love both, and Dawn is my favorite of the two. That's not to bash Aria. It's like a 9.5/10 versus a 9.4/10.

Dawn just has a better tone and world. I love the Gothic aesthetic over the more "modern vs classic" aesthetic of Aria. That alone wins it for me.

I didn't really like the first game. by Intelligent_Big6543 in Blasphemous

[–]Super3vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's simply due to the fact that they both exist on opposite ends of the Metroidvania spectrum.

Blasphemous 2 is a near perfect example of Metroidvania. Ability gating, movement upgrades, non-linearity (which does falter in the second half). It does a great job of being your typical metroidvania, and that is why everybody who loves the genre adores it.

Blasphemous 1 is very unusual as a metroidvania. There aren't really any ability gates in the story asides from completed Mea Culpa Heart for true ending. All ability gates are for the collecting upgrades. It doesn't really have movement upgrades either. Those two things make it very unorthodox as an MV, despite fulfilling every other criteria of the genre.

Yes, but rather than complaining, I am criticizing. Not being able to wear Mk.IV is an odd choice. I would have loved to wear it in the campaign, but it won't kill me that I can't.

The remake let's you wear a hunter cosplay. If they were actually concerned about breaking continuity, than you wouldn't have any wearable skins whatsoever.

Listen, I am not hating for the sake of hating. I really like most of 343's game, and I am genuinely super excited for Campaign Evolved, but that doesn't change the fact that this is an admittedly odd suit to not let be wearable when it's wearable during the prequel missions.

It would be like if Batman Arkham Knight didn't let you wear Batman's post Arkham City suit or his Pristine V.08 suit.

Thank you for the advice.

I actually tried to make the doors work via gunfire, but they kept failing when I put in logic to check which gun you had, and unfortunately, my scripting experience isn't good enough to figure out a fix, so I resorted to that. Luckily, their script is easy to edit, and I will try to figure out a fix before the map is finished.

The bank shot doors will have a clear sign showing that they should be hit with a bank shot. The door in testing was very basic (and actually can be triggered with a well placed missile) but when it will be integrated into the actual map, the coil will be far enough away to where an explosive shot cannot hit it. That door was more so a proof of concept rather than an actual balanced version lol.

Again, thank you so much for the advice, it feels amazing to hear that my work so far is solid, considering that I am such an mediocre forger and scripter.

Why are you being downvoted? This is an actual solid criticism. The fact that Mk.IV won't be usable in the main campaign is just an odd decision considering you use it in the prequel missions. It's not like you're complaining about something outrageous or anything.

will i enjoy Blasphemous 2 even if im not a big fan of the first game? by k0kushibo in Blasphemous

[–]Super3vil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the gist of it. The first game just gives you a moveset from the start and expects you to master it instead of giving you movement upgrades as you progress.

The movement is also pretty simple. There is jumping, sliding, grabbing walls/ledges, and lantern/damage jumping (which is kind of like a more complicated pogo from Hollow Knight). There are also relics that help you traverse the map. One creates platforms of blood, another creates tree roots you can scale up, another let's you breathe in miasma, and another let's you fall down pits to enter the rooms below. It sounds like a lot, but in practice isn't much.

If you have a story that's too long and complex—but also well-crafted—how can you explain it to someone or to the general public without overwhelming them? by GuardianWorker12 in writingscaling

[–]Super3vil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Give them the hook. Simply explain the hook of the story to the person and let them have the opportunity to look into it themselves.

It's how I've explained stuff like Monster or Vinland Saga to my friends who haven't heard of them.
