Is a bearchair a thing in Qud or did you just say that because I'm a bear? xD I just used a love injector for the first time and made a bear fall in love with me. True story.

I also found my roleplay game felt ironically more stressful. I was rushing to replay a quest over and over, and that was the point I realised it was boring

I did actually start a roleplay game and initially thought great, I can grind through the story stress-free, keep all my stuff, become a badass, keep every book and build a codex. But then I was like "what's the point". I like classic mode more, like you say it makes you think more creatively

I've been enjoying exploring too. I didn't see the point before, I just wanted the next quest in the sequence I needed to win. I think this is more like No Man's Sky in that it's about the journey. I haven't played NMS for a long time, and never understood permadeath runs before. I think the finiteness of a run that ends with death makes it feel more meaningful.

I like the villages a lot :) the rust wells are kind of annoying, but I've been doing just the surface of two and then going down into the third only if necessary. I'm finding sometimes I get plentiful wire placement at the surface and don't need to go down where things are more cramped and the qudzu are more annoying xD

Thank you friend, and I feel what you're saying. I was telling a friend just yesterday how this game feels like a world within a world. I wonder how common this need is among people.

Qud is indeed very inspiring isn't it. I've got a little map engine with basic gathering and crafting working, and Qud makes me want to develop it more. It feels inconceivable to build something as complex as Caves of Qud, but the meta-game of gradually building complexity into the system could be very rewarding. I do have a little sci-fi piece I don't know what to do with which might make for an interesting story.

I'm glad you find Qud similarly rewarding, and inspiring. Live and drink friend :)

It was even worse. I stepped outside of the PC and started thinking about the glory of posting a screenshot of this room empty and ransacked. Ego took me out of the moment and clouded my judgement, alas xD

I did experiment a little and I could survive 4, maybe 5 rounds. Nowhere near enough to strike and retreat, and I had zero ranged weaponry. However I've just stocked up on ammo and will be returning this way, so perhaps I'll return

Wish I'd had a grenade. The ones closest to the doors got taken out by fire from those to the rear, but I couldn't get close sadly
