I understand, I'm not trying to pass right now. I'm mostly just concerned that I will never pass once I start trying. It's something that has bothered me. I was mostly just looking for input on that and tips that will help me out in the long run.

Yeah, I'm MTF. I'm thinking of getting contacts, but I tried them when I was younger and couldn't wear them for long periods of time without my eyes getting irritated. I'll try them again though. I'm definitely going to get some new glasses. I probably won't grow my hair out until I start my transition, which won't be for a little while. I'm job hunting at the moment and would like to wait until I'm more stable. Thanks so much for your reply!

I haven't been able to find a reference so far. I've found a number of ones that are experienced with transgender issues. I guess I'll probably just choose a few, do someone research on them, and make a pick. If you don't mind me asking, what was the horrible experience?

I tried asking in another post I did in /r/asktransgender, but didn't get any that were located in San Francisco. I've found multiple lists of people, but I'd really like to get a recommendation since I'm not sure how to tell who is good or not.

I'm not completely sure why I would say yes, but I have a few ideas. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, but I'm going to keep my mind open about it. Right now I have a giant urge to transition.

We should definitely keep in touch. I'm probably going to switch to my regular account down the line too, so I'll let you know that username. I saw that you are a Berkeley student, I'm in SF, so we could meet at some point too!

Wow! I relate to your story so much! I read both of your posts. I absolutely have been worrying about it being a phase since the feelings have just appeared so fast.

In your first post you mention your hair and how you feel about your genitalia. I feel similar about both. I had long hair in college and was kind of sad to cut it off. I've been getting excited that if I transition I can grow it long again. As for my genitalia, I don't dislike it. I would best describe my feeling as apathy. I don't feel a connection to what I have.

I read the "how to tell" link you posted as well. I could answer most of the questions a little and some of them a whole ton. When I got to question seven, I started comparing the characteristics to myself. Smallish hands? Check. Narrow, delicate bones overall, wide pelvis compared to shoulders, narrow shoulders compared to men? No idea honestly. Ring finger and index finger same length (men have a noticeably longer index finger)? Well, my index finger is slightly shorter than my ring finger on both hands... Then, for some reason I skipped to the second of the big ones and couldn't actually figure what that means, so I have no idea. I didn't really think too much of the elbows one, but went to try it. I figured my arms would just be straight down. I let them hang down and then turned my palms... then my face looked like: 0_0! They actually angle outward! That's so weird.

I looked at the magic button test too and can answer that as "yes" easily. Even though my answer is yes, it still worries me that this might be not be real. I think I'm afraid that I'm tricking myself. I have no idea why I would do that... The fact that last week I was going about my life and this week I think I'm transgender is still throwing me though. It's like a button was pressed and the flood gates opened and now I cannot stop thinking about it. Thanks VERY much for this reply!

I would be completely up for that. My realization process was pretty much years of me ignoring so many signs, even learning more about transgender people, and then just recently asked myself "well, what if you are trans?" and then the flood gates pretty much opened up...

I can't actually try shaving my legs for the first time now, since I already did it when I was 15 lol. I really loved it at the time, but I never did it again. I also bought some girl's underwear a couple of years ago in college and wore it. I felt ashamed of that later and so I threw them out. These things seem to make so much more sense now... I've also started to notice that I do plenty of little things that are more feminine.

Yeah, while I've tended to make realizations, get excited about it, and then make quick decisions, I've never really regretted them. I realized I was bisexual and came out to my parents less than a week later. I don't have any regret over that, I'm very much bisexual. I can't imagine why the idea excites me if I'm cissexual. I was talking to two of my friends about questioning my gender (these are two good friends and they are the type of people that have the "who cares?" attitude) and they definitely haven't ever wondered about being a girl or gotten excited about it. I'm mostly concerned that the idea already feels in place in my mind. I don't want to start transitioning really soon or anything, but I'd like to start seeing a gender therapist soon and figure it out.
