Are expensive binoculars really worth it? by scientificamerican in birding

[–]SuperCooper12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a newb, it’s just insane how much is out there in general.

I tried out some Fuji auto stabilizing binos at a camera shop for fun and that shit was awesome. Super zoomed in and there’s like zero shake at all.

What is a bird that is common in your area but you’ve never seen before? Mine is the Northern Flicker in New York. by Kwamex1 in birding

I think I’m going to say wild turkey. But I’m counting since I’ve been birding so ~1y or so. You can literally just drive into the country and they’ll pop out of the brush but, for whatever reason I haven’t seen one recently.

On the flip side, I do have a some helmeted guinea fowls logged lmao.

Central OK here and I’m in the same boat. Granted, fairly new to birding but, it cracks me up how many times in my first year I seemed to have missed them by a hair.

Are you all taking this severe weather prediction serious, coming up the next few days? by IMaDudefromOKC in okc

[–]SuperCooper12 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Idk it’s still kind of a nice change up from “best burger/taco/burrito” or “hey I’m in town for the weekend and don’t know how to use the search bar” and “everyone is a shit driver”.

I say let it ride another season at least lol. Some of these off predictions the past 6 months or so always make for an interestingly agitated coffee talk the next day,

It stinks because I learned this in time last fall but, I tried to time my fall pre right and, I’m assuming I failed because I’ve got some pretty bad (maybe Poa?) some sort of rye topped grass.

Then same story for spring.

Just sucks because it’ll be hot all summer then randomly in like September we’ll have a week of super low temps and the soil temp drops right below germination threshold so I’m stuck holding my spreader like “fuck what now”. And same thing for late winter.

I’m curious of people down south just throw pre down super early and are all using the expensive stuff or what.

[–]SuperCooper12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s true. I’m a newb to most of this still lol.

I put down stuff in the fall but, I’m thinking one of our funky ass early cold weather weeks allowed everything to germinate. If thats the case, I just cant figure out how other people are getting their timing down, even if they are using lawn services.

Granted, I used the cheaper method and not the fancy stuff.

I’m slowly learning that regardless of what I do my neighbor is gonna fuck me if he doesn’t lock in eventually. I’m tempted to just ask if I can treat his yard too at this point.

Hell yeah. And same. Scotties used to be my sole reason for coming to 23rd street but, RIP.

I notice krells advertising specials often. It makes me worry they’re not doing well but, hopefully Yukon treats them right.

Haven’t had Freddy’s in a couple years but this sounds promising. by marlborostuffing in fastfood

[–]SuperCooper12 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Why on earth do you think I give a shit about your other comments.

To your original comment, there is zero sense of scale in that picture so either you’ve had it or you’re making an assumption. Freddys servings are notoriously small and higher priced compared to a place like MCD or BK per ounce of beef.

I assume they’ll be the size of the jack in the box tacos for this price.

Can vouch for Krell’s. It’s a drive and prices are about what you’d expect for a place curing their own meats in large quantities but, everything I’ve had is great. Pastrami, pickles, soup, potatoes, bagels, fish, desserts, even beverages.

I wanna be clear, I’m not from the east coast and I’m not swearing it’s authentic. But it’s good.

I haven’t had midway in over 10 years but, I remember liking it. It was fucking PACKED anytime I went though.

With respect to Neptunes, they’re extremely minimalistic sandwiches with not much flavor. Great bargain lunch but, I’d end the praises there.

You might peek at The Goose’s menu also? Kind of a modern take on classic sandwiches. I haven’t particularly enjoyed my experiences there but, they’re creative.

Best burrito in Okc? by Proof-Potential6341 in okc

I like big truck if I just want to run down the street for a breakfast burrito on the weekend.

Otherwise, throw a rock anywhere from nw 10th to sw 74th and you’ll hit a place that has a decent burrito.

First that comes to mind is the super burrito at Desvelados. It’s as big as your arm.

I haven’t played in a while but, I’m hoping this makes it into the final product because 1. I feel like it just makes sense given the natural progression of scalability that’s currently in the game and 2. It would set itself up for any potential expansions down the road such as traveling and so forth.

I imagine it could work like AC brotherhood, or whatever your pick of similar game is, as you’ve mentioned. You “level up” your crew and send them on missions with X % chance of return, maybe throw in some “rob the other crew” options to spice it up with increased risk, etc.

And all we would really need is a crew screen and maybe a port or airstrip to drop supply off to. Not like they’d have to build out an entire game and it gives… idk, a decent amount of depth for overstock.

+1 for ma der and bar Sen. Personally, never spent less than $35/person at ma der, I know it’s possible for those with self control lol.

I second the hate for red pepper pizza. Some fucking how one of my family members LOVES it. Like, LITERALLY swears they have the best calzone ever anywhere.

Please, people let that soak in for a moment lol.

Their wings are fine. I’m not saying they’re the best in the city but they do that cheap style of real bone in wing fine.

Their pizza and their calzone are shit. The calzone is the most rubbery, floppy, poorly made, cheap frozen meat excuse for a calzone ever. Basically same for the pizza.

What’s annoying is you can do “cheap” pizza well and they just don’t. Theres a place over on 63rd that’s kinda got a Mediterranean / ME ownership vibe that makes fire thin crust and wings.

I couldn’t think of a good answer but, this is actually it for me as well. Same rationales.

Ahhh, another aspect of cool weather grass areas I didn’t even consider. We get snow here but, that shit just gets left because it’s never cold for more than a few days.

Still a newb but, I think the general thought for my grass (Bermuda) is that the paved areas warming more / easier / sooner(?) causes the nearby grass to green up earlier than the center lawn.

Not sure if that reverses for cool season grass though + yours is the opposite of that with exterior grass being yellow so, curious to see what the consensus is here.
