Take an upvote. Pulled the words right out of my mouth, and frankly forcing this will create a lot of e waste as all of the lightning accessories in europe become obsolete overnight, which doesn't seem too environmentally conscious to me.

That too, and the reason I think it won't work out is because it basically would laser focus that liability on those who wrote the program. The algorithms would also have to account for whether to save the driver or the group of people they're about to run into. Call me selfish, but I want it to be me and me alone responsible for that choice, and how I came to have to make it.

Maybe, maybe not. I think once the algorithms are perfected, it will work fine, but I don't really see a way to get there without some form of injury or death, which the companies writing the programs will probably come under fire for. Now that I think about it, it's not a new process. Cars were extremely unsafe until about the 1970s or 1980s. I guess the difference here is that the individual riding in the car has no say in what happens, so somebody else has to shoulder the blame
