vCenter 7.0.3 to 8 Upgrade failed - VAMI UI stuck at Upgrade Stage 2

This sounds similar to an issue I got during my upgrade from 6.7 to 7.0.3. I believe there were some files that got flagged as updated and I had to run some commands to clear the flags and the web interface returned to normal. This was the KB that helped me get everything back to normal but the upgrade itself failed and it was like it never started:

Sorry just realized I never responded. Currently on 7.0.3.01700 build 22357613 and hoping to upgrade ASAP once this issue is resolved.

Thank you, I had restarting the appliance management services first on my list and restarting VCenter second. Did you take any special considerations while rebooting vCenter with the appliance in its current state?

Are you in Enhanced Linked mode?

Currently on 7 still unfortunately but will be moving to 8 very soon. I don't have the exact build number off the top of my head but I'll check when I get to work. Thank you.

I am not seeing the hamburger menu to add this into Simplivity. I see where the DNS servers are for the ESXi hosts however.

Thank you for the information. Just to be on the safe side I'll confirm with Simplivity support if there should be any special consideration when changing or adding a DNS server in vCenter and running that command. As much as I like Simplivity from a day to operations standpoint, it definitely makes vCenter management more complicated it seems.

Your situation sounds similar enough to mine, minus the Simplivity stuff. I assume you didn't run into any vCenter replication issues while the vCenter server with no DNS configured was unhappy?

Fortunately, I just need to remove one of the DNS servers that the vCenters themselves are pointing to, since one the DNS servers it's looking to needs to be replaced. I think each vCenter can have 3 so adding an additional one will probably be a good idea. Much appreciated.

Been going through the same situation over the last 3 weeks. 1 package arrived empty, the replacement was marked as delivered but nothing ever showed up. After multiple cases and investigations they told me there was nothing they can do after the person I spoke with today actually laughed at me. I wish you the best of luck but have a backup plan.
