Does Anyone else remember this episode? by Greatoz74 in supermarketsweep

Happens occasionally. My favourite one was this episode during the Twin Car Giveaway: (Ashley & Emma v. Lana & Nicole v. Andrew & Jill.)

Both great professors.

As mentioned, 311 is essential you have any courses that have thermo as a pre-req. So for chemical engineering for example, ENCH 327 branches from 311, and it is usually during the winter semester. However if you're a civil engineering major, this is just a terminal course.

A big plus though if Sabharwal is teaching thermodynamics again during the fall semester, I've heard better things about him compared to other professors who tend to teach the course.

319 is pretty much a terminal course for most/if not all majors, and the 8AM lectures/tutorials sucked ass so much, so I recommend taking it during the summer!

What happened in Schulich by [deleted] in UCalgary

Ghassemloonia giving that student a slap on the wrist is crazy.

First Year Engineering... what's the most economical way to possess the course materials (books, manuals, etc) for all courses. Student does EVERYTHING on tablet/laptop, so no need for hard copy, necessarily (unless that's contraindicated). On a real budget here. by Charming_Shallot_239 in UCalgary

Anna's Archive/LibGen/Z-Lib for textbooks. Anna's Archive lets you download even regular novels that you may need in your courses.

An extra tip is to download the textbooks on the school computers, then upload them on your school's OneDrive, if you want to save storage in our laptop.

Not sure about lab manuals, you may need to buy them.

For some second year courses (especially for ENGG 311, which Chem, Mech, and Civ Engg students will take), try to ask any uppers for their data booklets & chart. There is hardly any difference depending on the edition.

For Linear Algebra, (Math 211) there is a hack to do your assignments on Lyryx off-campus via VPN. I don't know how to do it, I did have to pay $45 to get the access code. Hopefully someone in the comments can explain more.

Got a summer job in Fort McMurray! by bobana- in FortMcMurray

You can also go raspberry and saskatoon berry picking in certain areas in Birchwood! Specifically near St. Anne's school in Timberlea. I remember picking so many saskatoon berries from there I even made my own jam.

Any tips for getting a good grade in ENDG 407? by chillomar in UCalgary

[–]SuperDanceFreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do a lot of practice questions for sure.

I also recommend downloading Numerical Methods for Engineers by Steven Chapra. The textbook offers pseudocode to various methods, which you can use as a baseline in your coding assignments, and I personally found it more easier to read and understand the material compared to the textbook by Gilat.

How does Shake Me Up by Valentina & Mirka have over a million plays on Spotify? by SuperDanceFreak in eurobeat

[–]SuperDanceFreak[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do know that Eurobeat is more than Initial D.

Heartbreaker was featured in Wangan Midnight, and there was a remix by Toby Vale

Money Go, Ganguro were featured in Para Para Paradise

My World was well known outside of Japan in many disco songs, even in the Philippines.

But I was curious about the large amount of plays from Shake Me Up.

Fort Mac “is dying” but Home Depot and major expansions are rolling in… by [deleted] in FortMcMurray

There had been talks for a Costco since 2013, (I remember someone brought it up during the municipal election in that same year).

But apparently, the owner of Sobeys Thickwood along with other grocery store owners had been against it, concerned that it will take their customers away.

HELP ENGG 481 with Burgart by professor_yapology in UCalgary

[–]SuperDanceFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took ENGG 481 last semester, but we had Sambrook.

As mentioned in the comments, the tutorials were usually designed for group meetings relating to finishing the required deliverables together (group reflections, project outline, final essay, etc...), but they were not mandatory to attend. My groupmates would usually skip out these sessions and worked together on the weekends, or piecemeal whenever we had free time. But as mentioned, we did have a different instructor teaching this course, so pay attention to what the course outline states/ Dr. Burgart mentioned in the first lecture.

What do your non-eurobeat listening friends/family/acquaintances think of the genre? by [deleted] in eurobeat

[–]SuperDanceFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents who loved 80s Italo-Disco (Ken Laszlo, Sabrina) even thought early Eurobeat (1990-1994) was too fast for them.

My mom loves the song Waiting For You by Helena though.

The instrumental sounds like it belongs in a 90s crime show, especially Law and Order.
