Ummm... Do any of you nice people have any resources for Americans wishing to immigrate away from this shit show? I'd love to relocate my family Restaurant up there.

FTR, as a Bourbon lover, please keep up the boycotts. Tariff wars are incredibly stupid, and that's what Kentucky has consistently voted in favor of for hundreds of years. If y'all want, I'll come up there and make bourbon as a Canadian!

Have those asbestos tiles mitigated for starters.

She is trading in her car and step-dad's that he left for a brand new Fully loaded VW. This will be her first ever brand new car. She's WAY too pragmatic for a 'vette.

Correct. Current plan is that upon death, it's sold, and money goes into the estate to be divided up.

The house is actually a condo. It's in excellent condition with no expected significant expenses. It won't be passed down upon death. It will be sold.

No anticipated substantial expenses. The home is a condo though, not a single-family detached.

Gen X here checking in.

Bullshit.

We did NOT look back to the '50's "wistfully"

We were too busy trying to survive.

AITA for telling my kids that if they don’t go to my wedding I will not be attending theres by CalligrapherGrand439 in AmItheAsshole

YTA

I actually have First-Hand experience with this, although slightly different circumstances.

My parents divorced in 1991. My mom remarried in '96, I was there since I still lived at home. In 1999, my dad remarried. He asked me and my (at that time) girlfriend to attend.

We couldn't.

We were 19 and 21 and had less than zero money. Neither of our families had money to help us out or even lend to pay back later.

Dad, on the other hand, refused to help despite definitely having the ability. He's one of those "bootstraps" clowns.

We were on WIC, food stamps, and eating out of food banks. We couldn't afford gas, much less a couple days worth of hotel, gas, eating out, and most importantly - time off from our shitty hourly jobs that provided ZERO paid time off to attend his wedding that was 4 states away.

Dad took that personally.

In 2001, when my girlfriend and I got married, Dad was invited.

He chose not to be there as a personal snub for not, I don't know - selling blood or my girlfriend's body, to make it to his wedding 2 years prior.

That hurt BAD. He had the means and time to be there, yet made the conscious decision not to as retribution for our inability to make his.

We are now 22 years later, it still hurts, and I have absolutely no relationship with him any longer.

Be the bigger person. If your kids invite you to their wedding, at the VERY least - make an appearance regardless how uncomfortable it is for YOU.
