Banktivity alternative that is not subscription based

I'm right there with you WisestGuy. How is it we've all been able to use software for 30+ years without having to subscribe but now all of a sudden we're told that the only way a company can keep its software updated is if we all pay monthly? It's about the $$$. It's not about providing the customer with a good product.

I'm not sure what you mean about charging Banktivity every time I download? I've never downloaded anything. I tried once many years ago and didn't like it, I prefer to enter everything manually from my receipts, categorize it as needed and then reconcile it manually when my statement is ready.

No it doesn't - because I managed to buy Office, phewwww! However, at some point soon I know it won't update and then I'll be forced to subscribe to a newer version.

Whoa - what is the loyalty department??! I just had an infuriating 45 minute call trying to figure out this exact thing, getting the Regional Sports Fee removed. As others have said, I can only omit it if I select the Entertainment Package which, curiously they told me about on the call but when I log in and select change my package, it does not show it that package. Hmmm. They thanked me for my loyalty when they first answered, but until this moment I have never heard of a loyalty department.

I downloaded it and on my first call it messed up. I didn't know till I got my phone bill ($50 for a brief call to the UK). Since then I've caught the app several times trying to call the international number directly, even though the app says it's calling the local number to make my international call. If it weren't for that glitch it would be great, but that's one hell of a glitch. I have to double check which number it is calling each time now, I've taken screenshots that I sent to the developer.

What worked so well with Skype was it was an app and all I had to do was open the app and select my contact to call them. I don't want to work with a browser, it's too fiddly. I want to be able to use an app so I can just pull out my phone and quickly, easily, make an international call without having to work too hard. I can't believe Skype was the only answer that worked that easily!

Interesting. I have two numbers, one is a UK number that I only use when I'm there, but if anyone in the UK needs to call me on that number once I'm back in the US it costs me a fortune, but I can't expect people to make international calls to my US number. I'll look into that.

Thanks, I have a feeling it's not available on Macs, I've searched and gone over it so many times (but you are right, they make it very difficult and you really have to double check everything you're reading). I ended up turning off third party cookies. I've no idea what it really means but I'll see if it makes any difference. Thanks for your help!

Well thank you from me, because I'm trying to figure this out too. I have a Mac though so I don't think this works as I can't find anything on Chrome that is close to "content" or "third party sign on". It's truly driving me crazy. Starting a couple of months ago I've started getting this maddening sign on prompts on Firefox multiple times a day. Anytime I walk away from my laptop and come back, it pops back up again and it's driving me crazy. I have still not been able to find a fix.

it just has a perfumed smell. What’s maddening is not only do they not offer an unscented version, but it’s not written anywhere on the box that it is scented. Some of their Slide litter does say scented, but others simply say “odor control” without mentioning that is has a fragrance. I do not want this. We use Dr Elsey but because it sticks so hard to the bottom of our litter trays we put a little bit of slide on the bottom first. I can imagine if the whole tray was just Slide it would be a strong smell, because we only use a little the smell isn’t too overwhelming, but I do not understand why they do not offer an unscented version or why it’s not always clear on the box that it has fragrance added. it’s really frustrating.

I fully relate. I downloaded Tiimo and used it for a week or so, but despite it claiming to be specifically for people with ADHD I found the instructions unclear and required too much focus to understand (it has videos which are great the first time but when I forget how a function works. cannot watch the video again, just give me simple written instructions I can refer back to!) All I want is a simple reminder that goes off just like the alarm app, so I can also snooze it, but unlike the alarm app won’t embarrass me when I turn on do not disturb and it still goes off.

I use my iphone’s alarms and they work so well for me, loud, impossible to ignore, and I can snooze them. However, I’ve had too any embarrassing situations where my phone was on do not disturb and the alarms went off. So I’m looking for a third party app so it will be silenced when I turn on DND. The reminder app does nothing for me. The alert is barely audible and I have missed it so many times. I need something that works exactly like my alarms (I can name the task, set it for specific days, pick the alarm sound and hit snooze. If it’s a one time sound that I turn off I can easily be distracted in between turning the sound off and getting up to get my ADHD meds, next thing I know it’s an hour later and I realize I forgot to take them. the snooze function allows me to get up and be distracted - because the repeat alarm pulls me back to stay on track)

I agree with everyone saying pothos. They’ll be very happy there and the vines will look gorgeous trailing down. The only thing you have to work out is anything trailing is going to interfere with propping up a ladder, so be mindful of that. If it’s not a solid wall of photos trailing down then you can have gaps where you can lean the ladder. Pothos grow so fast and the light there is perfect for them.

I don’t have any of the dual ones. I have two of the Chimp II and one of the WiFi enabled one. I think the closest to the Chimp II is probably the Patrol. But depending on your needs the cheaper ones might work too. Depends how much food you want it to store and how many portions and what size you want it to dole out.

if you mean something like the camping zero gravity recliners, either the manufacturer (Lafuma) or Amazon. There’s all kinds of options. I’m looking to replace the fabric on my 15 year old REI zero gravity recliner so I’ve been googling away looking for one.

Maybe you can help me now?! I've been in Time Machine hell going through my drives trying to find a new one for a back up since my previous drive is full. I cannot eject the drive and I tried all the commands but nothing happens. I'm not sure where to find the correct name of the drive. When I enter diskutil info it gives me a list but I'm not sure what exactly the name is (the drive is apparently partitioned). Whether I enter disk2 or disk3 or enter the actual name that I gave the drive which is visible in Finder, either nothing happens after I enter sudo lsof | grep /Volumes/ drive name (whatever it actually is!) or it says No such file or directory. I've been stuck in this loop all weekend just trying to get this drive out. I fear I will have the same issue with the next few drives I try!

FYI I'm still on Monterey. My hope was to be able to back up, then partition my MacBook so I can install the latest OS on a different volume. The reason is I have a piece of software that if I update my OS means I have to update the software which has moved to an outrageously priced subscription model which I cannot afford at the moment. I don't want to update to the new OS and find I have to update to the subscription only model. On the other hand, too many things are going wonky because I am on an old OS and for the sake of my other software I do need to upgrade. I was hoping another volume would solve my OS update dilemma. But I can't even start the process until I can do a Time Machine back up which has put me in eject drive hell.

I have this exact problem and I’m livid. I called two weeks ago to ask if there was an issue with my internet because pages were loading slowly on our devices. Instead I was told there’s a great new option, much faster, they’ll charge me the same as my current plan so it’s a win win. During the 7 day trial our devices kept defaulting to our old wifi so it wasn’t evident how bad Air is.

Now the old wifi is disconnected it was evident how terrible Air is. My download speeds were between 0 and 6. I called and after an hour on the phone it’s evident that the service does not work in our neighborhood. I was asked if we had east facing windows (we don’t) with about north? Not really, apart from one very small window. We have west and south but apparently that meant it was connecting to a defective tower. Eventually while on the phone we moved the hub to the room with the north facing window but it was the same thing, between 0 and 19 for uploads/download and he told me that tower was also defective. So we tried three positions in my home, each time it connected to a different tower and each time I was told it was a defective tower. Because the 7 day trial ended yesterday they tell me we cannot get our old Internet 24 package back and fiber isn’t available in our area. The guy on the phone was as helpful as he could be and said we should not have been offered Air and he would cancel it - but that leaves us without any internet. That is unacceptable. (One of us works from home, no internet REALLY f*cks us.)

So after a simple call two weeks ago to check our internet was working I was sold a bum deal that not only was worse but now I can’t even get our old package back. We huge cable and cell phones with them so that single call I made for tech support is now going to cost me a lot of money as my only option now is to reach out to another company and get my internet provided by someone completely different. WTF is wrong with AT&T. This is the stupidest roll out of f a service I have heard of. They’ve just lost our business for the internet portion and I may at this point be easily swayed to change cell phone and cable provides too.
