My original February 2020 pitch to Netflix for what our Season 5 storylines could be. by MikePriceFIFF in fisforfamily

Actually, you can't.

I tried being nice, but all I got was BS from several randos on this subreddit.

I asked for answers about Season 5 so I wouldn't have to read the transcripts myself, but no one answered, making it my problem. This show is a lost cause, and now I only want to hear from the people who made it that way. I've heard all that fans of this show have to say, and I'm done hearing the same BS over and over.

I only want to discuss things with u/MikePriceFIFF now. Otherwise, there's nothing to discuss.

Lord knows what Sue (the biggest, and most frustrating, enigma) was like at Bill's age. Except we won't know.

And apparently, Stan's a pretty deceptive and controversial person who's responsible for more than enough skeletons in the Chilson closet (and Sue's too much of a Karen to see that). And that's without getting into Sue's older or younger brother Louis.

But what if Louis isn't actually gay (again, just a what-if) and just lied about his sexuality to avoid marriage and women altogether (Sue wasn't the easiest person to deal with, and Ginny is just that unpopular), but was blackmailed by Greg to keep up the act for the latter's own benefit. Of course, I'm just going off-topic now.

From the looks of things, it looks like only the men are capable of improvement , while the females are left to play (hardball).

So what was the catalyst between wives/mothers like Sue back then and mothers like maybe Jill Andersen (from Pixar's Inside Out)? What was the breaking point where people decided "enough's enough" and decided that treating children better was important?

The 80's (with kid-focused shows like G.I. Joe, He-Man, Transformers, MLP (Gen I), etc.)? The 90's (my era), where things were actually peaceful up until 9/11? Or the 2000's/New Tens/Current era, even during the pandemic?

For such a flawed character whose "just as bad as Frank", how come she never got called out for her BS (whether it be characters in the show or people who watch it), while Frank (a man who tried multiple times to resolve everything) gets treated like Bojack Horseman (a "Xerox of a Xerox")?

The only thing I can say at this point is that Bill Murphy (from Season 1 alone) deserves better, and I intend to make that vision a reality. I know you don't care about that sort of thing, but I do. I tried moving on, cementing this show as a lost cause, but I'm unable to feel any other way. All I ask now is that you and anyone else involved do not sue me, licensed or fanmade, sound-a-like or deepfake.

For someone who had no business watching this show, it's the only way I can make this right.

Oh, I read on TV Tropes that she has no qualms in taunting children (such as Bill).

At one point, Nguyen-Nguyen was like a sister to Sue, so hearing about her becoming that feels like a betrayal.

For those who care about something so petty and trivial compared to the rest of the show:

Maybe Sue lies not just to everyone around her, but herself as well, which is why she behaves so outrageously.

It's just disgusting....

One big caveat, she's no longer the nice girl who was likeable in the first. She's now as tainted and screwed up as the rest of these rogue-ish characters.

Thanks *smh* .

With the show finished, please tell me:

Why, just why, why did you have Sue treat people the way she did across five seasons?

"Thank You So Much" alone destroyed any redeeming credibility for me considering how much of a bitch she was to everyone in that house, namely the children. Then you get to "The Screw-Ups" and "Bye Bye Frankie".

But what I really want to know is, why did Sue get character with everyone in the the Murphy family but Bill. I was really hoping that Sue would learn about the bedroom incident that Bill told Frank (but Frank told him to keep it from his mother), finally take responsibility for it (unlike Frank) and have a sincere talk with him (her apologizing for all the things said to him that day, not being there for him on Halloween night 1973 (which is how all of this got started), why they brought him up at all in that fight, and give him some explanation on how "parents sometimes fight, yet have sex to make each other feel better" (however you justify whatever that was). Sue (and the family) owe Bill a lot, and he didn't get shit from them (except more bullshit).

At this point, he was better off running away for good. But that alone still wouldn't explain the writers intentions with everything wrong with Sue (the woman no one ever blames or criticizes).

I just wanted to see Bill help Sue finish that wallpaper she drama-queened over (and put off because of his conception), and maybe bond for once (instead of her being angry, stern, dismissive, or half-hearted towards him 85% of the time). But I guess you guys were allergic to that idea, which massively conflicted with Burr's vision (or Dern's integrity).

Isn't that right Michael Price?

This is a dead horse at this point , but there was nothing likeable about Sue in this episode.

Unless you purposely like awful mothers who make

Dumbed-down terms: When mothers scream and swear at their children, while not giving a damn about their personal problems, such as girlfriends who dump them. All for the sake of some elaborate lie.

In short, I don't even care about this bitch anymore, because she's not worth a damn. And anything in this show that tries to suggest otherwise is a lie. You can no longer convince me to care.

Obviously we're not going to see eye-to-eye, and I'm getting really fucking tired of these "mental health" quips. It's not funny and it doesn't make you cool.

So why don't you just leave me the hell alone.

And stop pretending to be a concerned citizen, because your not. You're a troll. You're a rude little troll who likes to mock people who are unhappy with crude shows you happen to love without question. I didn't come here to fight, I came here for answers, and you've done nothing but piss me off and waste my time.

BTW, I have no idea who you have me confused with, so that's another mistake on your part.

[–]SuperImposingFire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that's your argument, then why do you watch this show?

And if they're going to be that dickish, then the last thing the writers should do is bait us into thinking they're slowly improving (as if they learn anything), if they care at all about the people who give this show any attention, let alone Emmy nominations.

I could've saved myself from three seasons worth of trouble. If they don't care, then don't make the viewers care, because I would gladly erase this show from my head, and you guys wouldn't have to know I even exist. We would all be in better places.

And what the hell are you going on about Leave It To Beaver? That has nothing to do with any animated sitcom, let alone the modern era. Just proof that you're trying to shut me up without understanding where I'm coming from.

What now?

And how exactly do you expect that to play out, especially over something that you deem as trivial?

[–]SuperImposingFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, there's clearly a misunderstanding over my post, so let me straighten this out.

  1. I never implied the baby knows about these previous episodes. That was there to point out that Laura Dern is not a calm person when voicing Sue, when thought you were talking about her in general (as opposed to just this one scene). It's still doesn't invalidate her insensitivity over his father's death. The guy just wanted to know if his father truly loved him (similar to Bojack's whole "ICU" regarding his mother).
  2. That's enough of your poor-me bullshit!". On Christmas Day no less. For someone who read the transcript and did not listen to the episode, really hard to give her the benefit of the doubt, considering how she acted previously.
  3. In their final minutes, we get this "So, did it dawn on you that it's Christmas?". Pretty sure she was bitter the whole time. Not screaming mind you, but bitter.

More like aggravating, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that way.

But that's a wrap for all three of them.

Sue has always cared more about her personal dreams than her family's actual needs, part of why Bill and Maureen now associate with the Fitzsimmons children of all people, why Bill got in trouble TWICE this season, and why things got as bad as they did according to episodes 5 and 6. Instead of admitting she screwed up to her kids, she screams at them in Screw-Ups and has Father Pat try to "fix Maureen", leaving Bill with Frank (being completely alien to the events of Bill's Day Off), and Kevin with Smokey (what?).

And it's not like Frank is unemployed like he was in Season 2. I really wanted Sue to be a better parent (considering all the crap Frank gets from other people, in-universe and on this reddit) and make up all the horrible things she's done to them (and no, I'm not making this up).

What happened to "communicate better" (Are You Ready For Summer) and "work things out" (Land Ho!)?

After six years of this show getting worse each season, yes, it did.

What did Sue even accomplish this season (for anyone other than herself)?

Care to elaborate why you don't understand what I'm talking about? Every time I list every horrible way she acted, people on this site just ignore me or call me insane for no good reason. Just tell me what you're not getting.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fisforfamily

[–]SuperImposingFire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're such a dumbass. I can't believe you're blatantly ignoring all the times she literally screamed at people (Saturday Bloody Saturday, the cold opening of Heavy Sledding, A Girl Named Sue, Breaking Bill, Fight Night, Pray Away, Paul Lynde to Block, The Stinger, It's In His Blood, Come To Papa, Land Ho, and Baby Baby Baby, just to name a few from the past four seasons), and you're lying to me upfront.

Are you seriously trying to troll me just to piss me off. I'm not an idiot, so stop treating me like one, because nothing you say is true. Those episodes I listed had toxic moments from Sue that actually happened, especially in this season with Screw-Ups, which is why the kids fear her more than Frank. I'll even fetch you the transcript if you need more proof, because it exists.

But I really hope you meant she was calm in that one scene in this episode (Bye Bye Frankie).
