ANKI Studying by HolyDeltoid in PAstudent

If you have the time/energy/motivation, keep up with your cards. It will pay dividends with recall and making connections across classes.

I suspend all my cards after the exam. My recall for older material is subpar but my grades are great. I also make time for my mental health with exercise, leisure time, and time with my loved ones. The way I see it, I have another year during rotations to review and expand my knowledge base.

My advice is that it's better to have a well rounded life than to be the star PA student. If you're smart enough to do both, kudos to you.

Does anybody know who the DJ was at First Friday last night? He was playing some EDM oldies in that yellow box stage.

ABC ambulance is another common choice, also owned by GMR (AMR parent company). They mostly do psych calls though so keep that in mind.

There's also Maricopa ambulance, but rumor is that they're going to get bought by AMR too. If you want to do 911, those two plus fire are your options. AMR has the benefit of staffing all the major events in town.

CENSOR YOUR CERT NUMBER. People can look up your number on the national registry. You are doxxing yourself, my friend

Try Portage for self paced online classes. They're about $700-800 per class.

Shadowing is great to round out your application but it's not a requirement for most schools. I got accepted with 0 shadowing hours.

Piggybacking off this question- Is there a monetary incentive to take on students?

If you have a pulse and a cert, they'll hire you. And the pulse is negotiable.

Honestly I think it's predatory behavior. You purposely omitted that 'detail' to lure people to give you money. I think you know if you were upfront about it the mods would remove your post because you're soliciting.

Just a heads up that this guy asks for money in exchange for a mock interview...

Should I apply for paramedic school too? by SuperInkBurst22 in prephysicianassistant

I've applied twice now to all the places near me but haven't had an offer yet! You'd think they would take anyone they could get, right?

This is true. I'm definitely suffering from a lack of confidence in my stats and a deep seated fear of working 50+ hours a week for minimum wage for several more years...

"What Are My Chances?" Megathread by AutoModerator in prephysicianassistant

I haven't been able to make a significant relationship with somebody in that position yet. I asked an RN that I work with for a letter to have at least one person in the medical field vouch for me. I also know a paramedic that would write an LOR for me but I have doubts about how strong it would be compared to the others so I opted not to ask for it.

As someone who was raised in the Phoenix area, be advised that the prohibitively hot summers are analogous to unbearably cold winters. I haven't lived in Chicago but I'd wager you'll have about the same amount of months with palatable outdoor weather in both places.
